Or send it to Mother?
With a total rebuild, it would be a beautiful guitar.
With Elmer's, it would be a Classic old guitar...
And probably still sound great. |

| I just hope there's a way to repair the guitar without having to replace the top, otherwise what's the use?.. But, anyway it's one of the longer auctions, so it'll be interesting to see how high it goes. Even with a crack it's still an original 83 Elite and that's a prize possesion in my book. |

Another potential bargain. Unusual to see 2 of these at the same time. Someone here (HEY NOOBS LOOKING FOR A GIT - I'M TALKIN' TO YOU) really needs to consider these. |

And the factory could do a great job with the crack. You'd see it, but never be able to feel it..... |

Location: Alabama | I agree with Moody - I got one for $650 or so and it cracked during shipping. I sent it to the mothership and $400.00 later with shipping it is not the great bargain I was hoping for but it is a great guitar for the money. Same thing with my 1769 but it had to get a whole new bowl assembly, but is essentially a new guitar with lots of bling for relatively little money. I should buy this and change my name to Cracked-O. |

| Moody, that's correct, my oversight. It's a 1718. That's the only other quality USA Elite I'm familiar with, of course we still have the standard models I guess.. |

| the restorations John, Kim, and crew that have been done for me are outstanding... granted the shiny 12 and 1537 are basically new guitars now.. but I couldn't have gotten a mint one of these for less than I paid for the guitars and repairs combined.
my 1537 had multiple issues and got a new top/bowl as did the shiny 12, and both are now very nice examples even if not original.
the repair on the one currently on e-bay would probably be much less than I had done..

Ending soon. Dirt cheap, even with full restoration by the Mothership. |

within a couple of days I will post (not for sale) a couple of pictures of a dark sunburst Custom Legend 1669...CYA was all over the top, multiple finish cracks to include a couple of bad ones (filled with dirt and old wax)...now some of the finish cracks are no more, others are very difficult to even see. |

And I'm probably kinda new to be considered family but would certainly be happy to share my toys with you guys at the Jam.
Can't believe the ending price either but I'm pretty delirious about it.
...'scuse me while I, YEE-HAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Is it just Ovations or is the whole guitar market depressed? |

| Alright Otto, congratulations!!!
I'll bring the crown up for ya to SSJ-II. You'll like it; it's tastefully done as an ivoroid tiara with abalone trim and gold Schaller tuners in place of jewels.
As far as the family's concerned, once you get an Ovation and join the board you're family forever. We're like those other "Families" - you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave.
Great guitar, great grab, may you enjoy it for a very long time. |

Didn't look that horrible in the pics but we'll see what it looks like in person before deciding what to do. First thing will be a good cleaning. By the look of the pics it is in desperate need of a bath. I'll definitely post some pics when it gets here and will most likely be soliciting advice directly after that.
Glenn, were you refering to the crack when you mentioned "a relatively easy diy??

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Thanks All,
I do miss my dad greatly, and I awaken every morning hoping it was all a bad dream. I still flip my phone open as I start to call him, but then I remember once again. I take great comfort in knowing he was a man of God and truly believe he is where he always talked about wanting to be. As I said ... I still miss him though, and there will always be a big hole in my life due to his passing. I was able to play my Cedar-top Elite at the funeral as my sisters sang along beautifully. I thank God for music, and for my feeble ability to play. I was also able to play for him as he was dying. What a blessing.
Thanks again for your kind words.
