I unearthed a few of these the other day. 20' long they eliminate the need for a dummy plug. so if you are using the xlr out of your guitar you need one of these

$25 shipped.

If we go too far it wouldn't be Al. Wasn't it Stephen that had a signature line about polishing a turd if you freeze it first? I always wondered if he had personal experience with that.
My cable won't arrive for a couple more days. I'll be sure and measure it when it gets here, before I use it once and throw it in the box with all my other unused cables.

18' sounds about just right. That means there will be one less loop of cable on the floor that I am likely to step on and get tangled up in.

I move to ban cheap shots at lawyers.

OK. Died for lack of a second.

Iffy, the only criminal law I did was clerking in a prosecutor's office during law school. I don't want to defend criminals and they wouldn't want me on their side.

Headhunters (recruiters) are only a rung above lawyers on the ladder of pity. A friend of mine specializes in Recruiting Lawyers! He readily admits that's it gets no lower than that. Dave

Not true. Most polls show used car salesman ahead of us on the most despised lists or least trusted lists. I bumped into a former lawyer who had his ticket pulled when he got convicted of a felony. He was selling cars.
I'd rather sell cars.
They didn't rank guitar salesmen.

OK enough OT. Back to the cables. I have a Lo Z connection on my Adamas but have never tried it. I understand the benefit is that I can plug in without draining my battery. From Al's ad for this I infer that I would need to plug something else in for it to work if I just used one of the Lo Z cables that are lying around in church (for use with microphones).

Q1: If I plug in with those cables, what will happen?
Q2: What exactly is the advantage of buying one of the one's Al is selling?

You need a cable that has pin #1 tied to the outer shell. I've found that some cables have it, some don't. If you have an ohmmeter you can check a cable by seeing if pin #1 and the outer shell are shorted. Or, you could just try plugging in with one at church and ask them to turn the phantom power on and see if it works.
I assume the cables Al is selling have this configuration.

I wondered about the phantom power. Neither of my acoustic amps have it. I guess I'll still need the dummy plug. I plug in about once a year.

It's elusive. That's why they call it 'phantom' power.

Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough for the phantom power on my amps. I get a phantom radio station when I plug in the Ute, and something keeps turning on the 99 Collector's tuner and draining the battery, but no phantom power yet.

OK, Al if you're listening, and you have any of these cables left, toss one in the box with my '08 Collectors and add it on to my final bill in October.

Mine's "Out for delivery". I can't believe I'm tracking UPS for a stupid cable. Get a life, Mark. It's been awhile since I bought a guitar.

It came. Al stooped really low this time. I complained about the lack of the famous beer wrapper, pizza box or New Jersey newspaper packing material in my OFC guitar box. This cable came packed with an old Guitar Digest, but it was "The Taylor Issue." Cheap shot, Al.

It works without a dummy plug or phantom power. Cool. I always thought that dummy plug idea was dumb.
