I normally don't speculate on prices, but if I had to guess, I would say that the final price range could be anywhere betwee $450-$650, probably more towards the high end. And whoever buys it is going to get a terrific guitar at a bargin price.... |

Personal opinion but the one to keep an eye out for is the reissue. Man I regret selling mine. This was a case where the reissue really surpassed the original, which is not always the way it goes. And the price was stupid cheap.

Dave IMHO, the reason the reissue is better than the original is that the construction techniques are better. The reissue has the new neck bracing system rather than the truss rod, it has the thinner finish on the top, and it has the better electronics...... |

Location: Tennessee | ...and the microwhatever (lighter) bowl (which I think has more presence ... more like the old shiny bowls). It does have the truss rod ... dual action if I'm not mistaken. I've been playing my reissue a LOT lately ... I feel sooooo lucky to have scored one of these. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | One reason to go after an original might be in the event it has been played a lot but in all other respects carefully handled over the years. These things develop wonderful tone over the years with lots of playing. I attribute this to the fact that mine continues to measure well against more expensive and perhaps technically superior models that have significantly less playing time. |

Location: SoCal | Only had a chance to play one of the early ones for a couple of minutes...it was different than the JL3. The primary difference that you see and feel is the bowl...JL3 is a lot lighter which I attribute to the bowl. You can feel the vibration in the JL3 bowl, appears thinner. As already said, improved pre-amp and truss rod.
Of course, this is in addition to the fact that you don't have the wear of about twenty-eight years. Negative, JL3 is going to cost $500-700 over what this one sold for. |
