Why no steel strings? I not interested in buying the guitar, I'm just curious. |

Location: SoCal | Martin tops weren't braced for steel strings until sometime in the 1920's. This guitar should have nylon strings on it, or at most, silk and steel. |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Paul I had several of these through my shop in the early to mid 80's: also one from the 1890's: all had steel strings...not all that unusual: if you look at the photo's, this guitar has stout X braces as well as scalloped bracing...true, they were originally designed for gut/nylon and silk and steel also work well: but light ga. strings can work as well: this guitar also had a replacement pin bridge at some point as stated...it has a small bridge plate so it can handle it.
The Brz. Rosewood is very nice! Price is about right as well...
If I could afford it, I'd buy it! |
