Location: Michigan | Been struggling to stash cash away in the old slush fund, got about 5 bills now.
I like my Clebrity it was an ebay find plays well, necks straight & stays in tune so I guess I got lucky, but I want a decent midgrade USA "O".
Hoping my luck will hold out but I get beat out on the bay quite often.
I have been wathing this, how high should I go ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX...
Please don't bid against me
Or should I just go to my local music store(Elderly) & check out this one.
http://elderly.com/vintage/items/20U-11799.htm
Nice thing there is I can physically see it & play it.
Looking for some seasoned advice.
I know, none of the above.
Keep saving my money & call alpep.

Thanks,

There are some bonkers deals to be had out there if you play your cards right.
If you are buying unseen (i.e. from Ebay) then make sure you ask all the right questions, for example.
Does it have any problems?
Is the neck straight?
Do the electrics work?
Are there any ding, cracks or scratches on the top?
etc etc etc
Of course the correct answer is to buy them all :) |

You can actually touch the instrument, talk to the folks, and maybe negotiate a cheaper price...
(or a free stand or sumptin)
Plus, Elderly probably has a better return policy than eBarf.
And you can try before you buy.
And you can find something that ain't listed yet.
But don't miss-out on things offered by your friendly OFC-ers. |

Location: Kennesaw, GA | Birddog, I helped a friend some months back with getting a good used USA made one on ebay. Between CL and Ebay, you can in time find a good value. I don't mind strumming the non-USA's, but they just never felt as good, did not handle bends as well, and just didn't have that sound. I did own a S778, and hated it. However, I have 2 other elites that I truly enjoy. Just set a budget in your head, exceed it, and you will be happy! :o ) Just make sure you get a case. That is a whole annoying market in itself, trying to get a hard shell case for your baby. |

I'll have to take a chill pill & relax.
Missed the one on the bay, had it till the last minute but ran out of time.
I really do like the play it before I buy route unless there is a very good return policy.
My preference is round sound hole, mid-depth body but am trying to get used to the contour bodies but haven't gotten comfortable with them yet.
I do go to Elderly as they are the closest to me & am fortunate to have a quality store that close & I made a friend out of the "buyer" when he got me a battery holder for no charge for my Cleb. I in turn gave him an Applebee's gift card. He called to thank me and said if I ever need anything to let him know.
I do cruise the bay, CL & here daily so who knows, and do appreciate a good "heads up"
Thanks

Have a look at MWoody's post above (GAS pre-blowout sale). He's being modest not promoting his own guitars; if that 95 Collectors is still available I would take it like a shot! It would be mine as we speak, but I've just popped for another 1758.
