| I have a Ovation Legend Prototype in near mint condition that I am going to sell. S.N. is 061681, which is the date of manufacture. I talked with the Ovation people, and they sent a e-mail document stating that it is a Prototype, and was built in 1981. Only one built exactly like it. It is a Legend model with a black burst finish, and the headstock and neck are also a high gloss black finish. All the standard Legend features like gold hardware, A-bracing, etc. About as close to mint as a 27 year old guitar can be. Looks like it's hardly been played, ever. It is a acoustic/electric, and the electronics are also mint, and work perfect. Didn't come with a Ovation case when I purchased it, but has a pretty good case that works well. I am asking 475.00 plus actual shipping, and this is a bargain, considering the condition, and rarity of the guitar. And it does play and sound very nice. No fret wear, cracks or other damage.

I am curious as to why it's a "prototype". I have a 1617 from 1975. Is the "SS" on the model number implying that it's a Super Shallow bowl? If so, then maybe I could see it being a prototype in 1981. |

| I like that black burst. Very fair price I'd say for what this is.
Someone will certainly grab this one. |

| I will search for the e-mail from Ovation. I have it here somewhere. I asked them about the rarity of the guitar, the build date, and how many were made. They e-mailed me back stating that it was built on June 16, 1981, as the S.N. indicates on a Prototype Model. They stated that the factory would try different bursts, etc. from time to time, and would sell them to the public. They did tell me that I definitely had the only one of these built. I will take a scan of the document when I come across it, and post it here. The reason they labeled it as a Prototype is the entire neck is black, and the top is also a black burst. They told me that the 5S in the S.N. was indicating that it was a Black Sunburst finish. It is a deep bowl Legend in all other respects. |

| I thought this would sell quickly, considering what it is, but still available for sale, or will consider some kind of trade, possibly. |

Location: Jet City | Roundback, you're asking a very fair price for that. I would price my '82 right at the same. We have 2 1617s here in the house, the other one is a '75 burst. Great guitars.
Guitars are movin' slow right now though. |

| Damon, I think I probably have this one priced very reasonable, considering it's condition, especially since it's one of a kind.I would be asking quiet a bit moe, if I had the correct case for it. If I can't get my asking price, I will definitely hang on to it. It is a very nice guitar, with no issues at all. Pretty rare for a 27 year old Ovation. If it doesn't sell pretty quickly, I will probably just cancel the ad.

| All PM's answered, and sale pending on the Prototype. I'm going to be thinning the herd, and will be listing several other Ovations soon. |

| Still for sale. I can't believe it's still here. Did I price it too low? I can put in in a new, black, Ovation case, or a near mint, brown, Ovation case, but I will have to ask more for it. Honestly, I think it's worth a bit more than I am asking, without a case. This is a very rare Ovation, in unusually good condition, considering it's age. |

| Someone better buy this beauty before I decide to keep it. I don't have the optional choices of cases now, but this is a great little guitar, in perfect conditin. The electronics look like they have never been used, and there is no cracks or other damage to the guitar. |
