Location: CA | If you missed out on the initial buy earlier this year, here's your chance to make up for it. Most of you know the story - Sweetwater Music commissioned 10 of these (or 14 depending on who you ask) from Ovation. They are basically made-in-USA 'stock' 2078T guitars — contour deep bowl, 'nonskid' paint, maple neck — with the addition of a koa epaulet. That's what really sets them apart visiually from the more 'industrial'-looking Elite 'T' series guitars. The Sweetwater guitars are also fitted with Op-Pro preamps rather than the Op-30s on the stock 2078Ts.
As I have mentioned in other posts since I got this guitar in June, it has beautiful sound, I love the look, the neck is great, the Op-Pro is amazing . . . but I just can't get used to the contour body. In fact, at this point I can't stand it! This is my first experience with that body and it's just too weird. I'm on the thin side and no matter if it's on a strap or on my knee, the guitar feels like it's always falling forward, away from me. (Considering my playing, it might just be trying to escape, but the effect is the same: I'm always having to wrestle the guitar back into position so I can see the strings.) Although acoustically it has the big bass and nice projection of a deep bowl, I'd MUCH rather have the full deep bowl. I've tried to like the contour, but can't, so I'm letting this one go. I'm thinking of just going back to a 1778T, which is what I sold to get this one. That fit me and my playing style perfectly. Live and learn.
I'm asking $800 for it. That includes shipping in the lower 48. And it's a firm price — with shipping and packing I'll about break even. It's in as-new condition and of course includes the new HSC, manuals, etc. Sorry I have only the one photo at the moment. (The others must be on the home computer.) I'll try to add more tomorrow. In the meantime, for more pics, search for 'Sweetwater T' in the archives as there were numerous posts with photos on this subject around mid-year.
This is a pretty — and pretty unique — guitar. IMHO, the koa really 'completes' the look of the 'T' guitar. Add in USA built, spruce top, etc., and it's a great opportunity to grab a rare piece of Ovation history-in-the-making. (Especially if you like the contour back — and/or you sport your own 'deep bowl', for which the contour bowls were apparently made.) If no takers here after a few days, I'll run it up the flagpole at eBay next week. Thanks much. |

That is also the photo that tantalized me into wanting an Elite T with the epaulet. Dang, I wish Ovation made 1778Ts with that feature. Slipkid, if you ever want to part with that one, let me know.
OMA, I figure the fact that I posted on a weekend might have something to do with limited response so far. Maybe tomorrow. |

Good luck with the sale. Seems like a lot of guitar for the money.
