I was not impressed with the looks and based on other guitars I owned I didn't think it would stand with them acoustically (or at least let's say I didn't need yet another textured top adamas).
Happy to say I was WRONG on all counts. The looks of this guitar are STUNNING. Photos do not do it justice. It's not over-the-top ornate. MusicMike put it best "it's like a regular adamas wearing a tuxedo." The neck size/shape/profile is OOO-LA-LA fine and the sound is dripping with sweetness. You know, I'm not sure I've ever plugged it in! It's just THAT good acoustically.
There are a few of these still hanging around the shops and a few on ebay. Probably a statement about the overall economy. But if you can possibly scratch up the cash (or you're credit card has some headroom on it) NOW is the time to jump. If you could afford ONE reasonablly priced Adamas that would be equally at home on stage, in the studio, sitting next to your baby grand in the parlor - THIS WOULD BE IT.
I know, Preacher, Choir, blah blah blah

For what Al charges, these are tremendous guitars (I understand that for some strange reason, not everybody agrees with me about the looks and contour bowls -- beats me as to why).
People need to jump on these as they won't come around again...... |

Kidney... left or right?
I have been in denial about wanting one of these. Now PI and Dave are pushing me. Isn't that what friends are for?
These are honestly nice, timely (gone soon) and useable for every situation.

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | I will chime in too. Al's price was fantastic, the guitar is beyond anything I expected to ever own (while I can probably afford any guitar I would want, I am a mediocre player, so don't indulge too often).
The sound far exceeds my expectations and yes folks, while it is "different" than my 2080 or 1537, I consider it better than both in what I was trying to accomplish.
A testament to this fact was that I was trying to learn a new worship song last night. It was one that had a nice finger picking line throughout the song and in the past it was "man I wish my guitar sounded like that one". Well, my wife came downstairs (I was playing along with the CD) and said....I couldn't tell which guitar was which. The 08C was eq'd flat, VIP just a touch of #2. Both the CD and guitar were through my Mackie board and into a Bose L1. They sounded identical even though I know that guitar on CD was probably a very expensive unit recorded in a top notch studio. We were both amazed.
The 08C makes me sound like a much better player than I am.
P.S. Lot of "country folk" in Hermiston, and they LOVE the look compared to the 2080. They think it is exactly what it is...a very, very special instrument. |

| Ditto Al, ditto Dave, ditto Paul (except I like the looks & contour bowl), ditto Jeffrey. This is an outSTANDING guitar, and you can't beat the price & service from Al.

Jeff, you just had to say "better than a 1537 and 2080"
My 2 favorites
a couple of phrases come to my mind, really they're the same phrase...

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | It would only cost you guys $50 in gas to drive over here and try it out if you like. Unlimited access to my basement rehearsal room, plus; 1537, 2080, 2008C, Carvin LB75P, Carvin DC400P
Actually, your idea of going into partnership for it isn't half bad. Just insure it, set up an LLC and establish on line sharing schedule, just like an airplane partnership. Both are happy and financial accommodation reduced to half. Pretty good idea M & D. |

I drove by again a few weeks ago, but didn't want to stop with a trailer full of my daughter's stuff and a time schedule to meet. I also didn't have Jeff's phone number with me. (I suspect Jeff and Dave sneak in and out of Boise all the time without telling me.)

Location: Sydney, Australia | I'm just waiting for the Aussie dollar to rise to a suitable level (keeps falling, I should have done it a month ago). I'd have thought that the collapse of major financial institutions in the US would have hurt the US dollar, not sent it up against the Aussie dollar.
Whatever happens it will be no later than the end of the month. |

Better do it before the snow flies. Nice try Mark, but I have given you my cell phone before, and I have NOT been to Boise in over a year. Was going to fly over it last May on my Moab trip, but weather diverted me through Elko and Burns. |

| Too bad you can't hang on a few of these Al, guitars like these (in fact I would say The Best Collectors ever made) IMHO they will be worth a bunch in the future. Like the 47's and the OFC Slotheads these Adamas guitars will stand the test of time and become sought after in the future. |

So if Damon and Mike and Jeff want to meet in Hermiston to try out that Collector's, I'll try to make it over and bring something to compare it with. |

Location: ms | I got to try one a few weeks ago. This guitar was light, i mean light like an old D18 Martin. The setup was dead on for me. The neck was just to my taste, felt great. The strings were dead so the sound was a bit weak. I just don`t have that kind of money. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Funny this thread came back up at this time. I'm having a house guest this weekend and was restringing a few guitars so he would leave saying "man those Takamines sound like shit", anyway I pulled the '08 off the wall gave it a strum and just smiled. Thought - "Well, he'll damn well enjoy this one, that's for sure."
It's a guitar you could gig with every single night. Or a guitar you could prop up in a museum and never play. It's just a wonderful, wonderful instrument. |

I sure wish I could buy one of every guitar I think would be cool to have. The 08C is certainly on the list. I've got real hard choice coming up on what I'm going to spend my next round of guitar money on. |
