Location: NJ | Well, you may catch me changing my mind on this one but yes number 1/12 is for sale. If you need a pic just look at my myspace page myspace/lostartvintage.
basically #47 specs but with electronics. My color is more like the early 2 knob non slotheads than the slothead blue. this was later corrected on 2-12.
label signed by CWKII and myself letter of authenticity. carbon fiber case etc etc etc.
this was the first guitar they built and although all of them are stellar guitars they really took great pains in making this one perfect for me.
e me with offers.
do not insult me or low ball me.
You will probably never see ovation build these guitars again |

I've only had one new car in my life and the OFC guitar was almost as special. In some respects it is much more special. Cars depreciate. |

Not likely in any of our lifetimes or in any of our children's grandkids lifetimes (for those that participate in those sort of things). I'm not even sure they are capable of making these anymore if they wanted to. Besides that 1/12 is unique, even among the 12.
I think over time the only more desirable/collectible guitar, would be an Original slot-head prototype. |

Since I obviously don't have a life, this place has become my local "pub". That guitar represents all the best of it.
And, it is a great guitar..... |

But to get back to the topic, I hope either Al's OFC guitar (ding) goes to a great home or that he decides to keep it. It's a whole lot more than the sum of it's parts.... |

Although one of the 12 LAV Koas was resold, this is the first resale of an OFC as far as we know. It makes some sense for Al to sell it, since he is a guitar dealer, but it is a special guitar that should be kept in the family forever. Maybe someday someone will be trying to track down all 12 of these like the original slotheads. |

It'll never happen again, or if it does, the price will be 2 or 3X what it was. Mine has already achieved status of family heirloom. Good thing I have decendents who play. |

Since they were all custom made to Al's personal specs, it has never been sold by the original dealer. He's simply held onto and tested the first one a little longer than the others. Al, does it still come with the lifetime warranty? |

Since I am a dealer and this guitar has never been sold. It can come with the warranty.
FYI I have one confirmed firm offer. (I must have asked too low) Although that individual will need time to get the cash together.
for now the guitar will rest with me. I am now getting cold feet about selling it. For me this guitar represents many things. The achievement of the OFC, the friendships of many of the members that I have made and the relationship that I hold with the guys in the Factory and some in Bloomfield.
That said there is also the downside, It represents the frustration of getting these approved and finally finished, the ridicule I got from some board members, and most importantly the frustration, heartship, threat of lawsuit etc, posed by certain former board member. Sometimes just looking at this guitar makes me relive a period of my life that I am not so fond of reliving.
the guitar itself is as close to perfect as I could imagine. I remember the day I got it and I ripped open the box and stummed the first chord. I knew that the factory "got it right". That was very exciting for me. But in practicality, I need a cutaway and the on board tuner to use it in performace and I just have to much inventory. I am thinking of taking one of my 08 collector's and having it retro fit with the al dimeola boost preamp. If I can convince them to put the adamas I overleaf on the headstock then it would be perfect LOL
For now, the ofc 1/12 guitar is off the table. |

| A cutaway has become a much needed option for me as well Al. Personally I would make a gentlemans agreement that whomever buy's this guitar has to at the very least offer it back to you first if the day comes that they need or want to sell it again.
I'd also like to mention I fell this OFC guitar like the Koa's are the most interesting and increadible guitars anyone has ever taken the time to have made. Your efforts in these projects and the amazing guitars produced should never be a bad memory for you.
FACT If I was a wealthy man I would own one of them all. By the way the headstock on the 08 would be the cats ass if it were carved! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I was a relative latecomer to this party. The OFC was in the works by the time I figured out what it was. I never thought that I would get a chance at one and my playing abilities didn't really fit the guitar. When they weren't snapped up immediately, and after some prompting by some of you, I went back and read all the stuff in the archives about the OFC guitar. I can appreciate what Al just said. My first conversation ever with him was when I placed the order on my birthday. Like many of you on this board, Al is just a great guy to know. And Al, if you had a nickel for every time I'd been threatened with a lawsuit, you'd be a rich man. Unfortunately, that seems to be the American way anymore. |

Dave Bring it with you next time. I didn't think you were rude, except for not telling me you were in town. Next time you walk by me on the sidewalk, I'll show you rude. But then dinner is on me. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Except that Dave proved my suspicions correct. I was sitting in Boise eating at a sidewalk restaurant and there goes Dave walking by. I don't need to go to Phoenix if he would just bring his guitars here when he comes.
Of course, I have to assume that if I see him on this chance encounter, he's probably been here a bunch of other times and didn't let me know.
All that's really beside the point. I just never play 12 strings, so there's no point in playing one that I'm never going to use.
The 08C is a different story. I'll check on my first free weekend and see if a trip to Hermiston can be arranged. I'll be at Wallowa Lake in a couple of weeks. Is that close enough? |

prices have also gone way up.
I still have a couple of koa guitars that were spoken for when I ordered them and never picked up.
anything I do in the future would have to be done with payment up front
sorry to say people's word is just not good enough anymore |

I was about to point this out as well. No big deal. If this had been posted recently, I'm certain the price would be there........and most of us would be reeling from an unfortunate mix of sticker shock and envy.
Congrats to the new owner. I'd love to play one of these one day. |
