Not mine. But can't believe I can't scrape together that much to make it mine. Maybe someone here can.

Really? I emailed the guy and he emailed back:

"It's a CS 2000 model. Show on the sticker in the sound hole and on the neck (12th fret)"

My apologies if that's some kind of Celebrity or something.

My bad. Sorry. I thought CS was "Collectors Series". I didn't even know Celebs had collectors series.

I can only rarely make heads or tails from the ovation archive on the O website. It's not for lack of trying. I feel like complaining, but then I've also tried making sense of past Gibson numbering systems. Hah! It would be easier to figure out the DaVinci code. Anyway, that's why this site is so great. Even if I can't figure it out, someone here knows the answer.

That's something I really have an issue with about Ovation. When I first started on this long voyage, I had an Applause, which I understood was a low end Ovation guitar. I then got together enough money for a "real" Ovation, and bought one on Ebay. A beautiful "limited edition" CP2001. I then found out they make these "Celebrities" that are not really "Ovations" but an Asian import with the Ovation name stenciled on it. I would think if it says Ovation on the headstock, it should be a dyed in the wool, US made (and assembled) guitar. If they want to peddle this other "entry level" stuff, they really should designate it as such with a definite brand designation (Matrix, Ultra, whatever) that would keep unsuspecting potential customers from being duped into buying a cheaper knockoff. OK, I'm done ranting now...

TJ, I feel your pain. And honestly feel I would be farther along in my O-prenticeship if the models were delineated better. (I bought an Ultra thinking it had a solid top, and I believe there was an American-made Pinnacle model AND a foreign-made laminate-top one. WTF?) I hoped fleetingly that situation might change under Fender, but the next millisecond realized you can still get a guitar that says 'Fender Stratocaster' on the tail, but it's made in Mexico. Oh well.

Or China. I guess it's not confined to the Kaman group. Not that my celeb was a bad guitar. It actually played better and sounded as good as some of the US made models I've played. I'm just a US kind of guy.
