Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | I hate to let a sonic beauty like this go but I really need a cutaway (I bought an 07 Collectors) and I have another wonderful sounding deep body Ovation. This 1537 is rare for it’s condition (no surface cracks anywhere) and it’s color. The tobacco burst is difficult to find and really makes the guitar look like a spectacular antique. Several people have told me it was the most beautiful guitar they’ve ever seen! Very nice compliments to be sure. You know the 1537's sound fabulous but don't forget they also come with a stereo output that makes them extra fun.
This guitar is not perfect…there are 2 tiny dings in the front but they are nearly too small to photograph. There is a small area on the back where the paint has flaked off (see picture) but this is not very noticeable as you will see. This particular guitar was built in Connecticut in 1984 (serial number 302986). Brown Ovation hardshell case is included. It’s in good condition but has the usual scuff marks. All latches and hinges work perfectly and the interior is in great shape.
I took the opportunity to play this guitar side by side with my 07 Collectors (also a very nice guitar). The 1537 is louder and, I think, a little bit richer sounding so in a strange way, I was a little disappointed. I attribute this to the fact that the 07 is a cutaway. The frets have been professionally leveled and re-crowned. They are in very nice condition.
A few pics are shown below and several more are in my gallery. Asking $1050 + ½ Shipping. Comes with a 24 hour return policy (you pay shipping).
Several members have purchased guitars from me and I’m sure they’ll vouch for my honesty (if I pay them enough) and quick shipment.
Thanks.

I think I'm in trouble again. My Right Click on the full size image does not offer a "Copy Image Location" option.

We've been up norf visiting and I've been stuck having to play the SLPT (super legend prototype) I am reminded how good these are, even with skinny necks. |

I read the post about there being 1000 and change of the 1537s made, but I forget if there was mention of how many were black, nat, and burst.
Anyone know? |

Seriously, tho', good question, I'd like to know, too. |

| As far as I know, the 1547 IS the cutaway version of the 1537, identical in every other respect.
If I didn't have the 87C I'd have to fight you for a 1547 ;)
Don't mean to hijack this thread, tho. Someone NEEDS to get this 1537. Seriously. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | tdeej was supposed to bring it to Miles, with a few of his others, but we never heard from him. That would have been a nice representation of the Idaho Ovations, since I didn't bring anything. Just like yours, Damon, but with a cutaway. Maybe he figured that since you are a notorious guitar thief, he better not come. |

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | The OFC has been great for me and I've learned a lot about Ovations and have bought and sold several guitars. Collectively, we've kept a lot of great guitars in the family. Sort of reminds me of my neighborhood garage sales. Everyone's selling and buying so at the end, we've just shuffled the merchandise around and, as a group, we still have the same stuff. OK, I'm babbling.
Truth be told, it's time for me to move this guitar. I'm on the one in, one out program at this point in my life and I just bought an '07 Collectors. I hope to be more of a collector in the future. My 1537 is a classic piece of Ovation history and it's in great condition. Comes with a 24 hour no hassle return policy (you pay shipping) if you don't like it. Would love to keep this guitar in the family with someone that really appreciates Ovations. I'm lowering the price to $950 + 1/2 Shipping. Let's work something out.
Next week she goes to you know where.
Thanks.

| stellarjim's asking price is more than reasonable, given that there's another one on the bay with a broken ear and a pretty large finish crack with a staring bid of $1500.
Keep it in the family! |

No, I am in no way affiliated with Stellar Jim.
I was told by the people that know these things here to buy a 1537 and boy were they right. |

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | G8R is right...keep it in the family. I have a potential buyer so I hope to keep it in the fam. He's trying to shake loose some money so I should know shortly.
A great historical guitar that is rare for it's looks and outstanding condition. I really don't want to move it to www.guitarhellebay.com.
Let's keep our fingers crossed. I hate the way I get emotionally attached to some guitars. You'd think I'd be above that at this point in my life.
