Location: Phoenix AZ | I don't usually like to post ebay links but this one is just TOO good to pass on. I've been raving about this model for the last 2 years and those who have one know how good they really are. This one is a STEAL !!! I don't know the seller and I'm not trying to promote it, just trying to bring this beauty into the OFC if at all possible.
1627 GLEN CAMPBELL REISSUE
You KNOW that I would buy this in a heartbeat if I didn't already have that base covered. It's loud, bold, crisp, clear, and it RINGS like freaking Big Ben on steroids. For anyone roughly my age, who first fell in love with Ovation in the early 70's you'll hear this guitar and immediately say "Ah, THAT's the sound I used to love ..."

Location: South of most, North of few | The only thing that bothers me about this one is the fact that it's an FRG, but the neck is still messed up near the headstock. Don't you think the factory would have repaired that while FRGing it? (hey, did I just make up a new phrase, like PUassy) |

I sincerely doubt that FRG is a verb ...

And that bad spot on the headstock could be repaired for about $50 by somebody who knows what they are doing..... |

"Grammar" (much like "Nuclear") should only be proliferated by those who can spell/pronounce it . . . |

Location: the BIG Metropolis of TR | The other problem I see with this guitar (other than the issue at the nut) is the center strip in the neck is off to one side! (plus there is no Mahogany strip sandwiched between the two Maple strips)
The stripe is not centered evenly between the tuners......

Location: Boise, Idaho | I think that's just the shape of the headstock. It's centered in the middle of the neck. There are 3 pieces in there, but I can't tell if the center is mahogany. If it is, it's awfully light colored. |

....The neck carving machine must have been knocked out of adjustment that day 'cause even though the strip passes over the headstock volute (which could have been reshaped by hand)in the center.....the whole stripe is shifted to the left (as seen from the rear....
Look at the centerline from the point of the truss rod....
I've always been impressed by the way that Ovation precisely centers the tuners on the stripe....this one is definitely off!(Even the serial # and USA is off center!) |

Location: SoCal | It's still a 3 piece center strip. It looks like 3 pieces of maple with the center piece at a 90 degree angle.
I don't know why, but the only tuner that looks off is the A string tuner, and it looks spot on from the front.....
Anybody going to buy this guitar? |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I'm not criticizing you for buying them, TJ, just for selling them. I still have some storage space in the basement, but I've slowed down to only 3 in the past 18 months or so. I'd rather violate SWMBO's moratorium than go to a one in one out rule. |

Location: South of most, North of few | Well my only barrier is the $$ thing. When the guitar/mad money account runs low, I have to part with something to get another. I know I should start keeping them, but I only keep the ones that I really bond with. It's the "grass is always greener" syndrome. Besides, I like to pass them on and explore others. My wife feels lucky I've kept her for so long. Of course, changing wives is a much more expensive venture... |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I keep telling my wife she needs to get rid of me for a newer model, since she likes to replace everything else once she gets tired of it. I just hate to let anything go. I don't have a guitar account, though. That may be a good thing. |

My 1627 RI has a very light center stripe also; I got it when Music 123 had a brain fade a year or so ago ($999 new, shipped; went back up to $1800+ shortly thereafter). |
