Location: Fort Myers, Florida | I have for sale an Adamas 1 oblong cutaway prototype signed by Charles and Bill Kaman, with original case and case cover in immaculate condition.
Guitar has all original wiring, is dark blue and has been kept inside since received by Ovation. Original frets in excellent condition.

If anyone know what the value of this piece is, please post it. Ovation could not tell me.
Thank you |

A guitar like this one, while very cool, is probably only going to be worth $2-$3000. A collector might pay more, but I wouldn't count on it.
This is only an estimate. Your actual mileage may vary....... |

I don't think it's seen the light of day for quite some time. Sound to match. Signed by Beal and Papa. Nice!! :D |

The cutaway profile is very close to my LEGEND PROTO.
That Adamas is a very nice model!!!

I have received several offers for the guitar and am just waiting for everyone to send me an email that has shown an interest in this piece.
I have given them an asking price and am waiting for the counter offers to arrive.
I do appreciate the kind words from everyone hear.
If I unintentionally mistated any date or other information, I sincerely apologize, but I did not have the information handy with me upon first posting the guitar.
As Jim Cannon will attest, the guitar has no scratches, dings, or fret wear. The case has never been out of the case-cover since owning it, and has been kept in a climate-controlled, smoke-free environment it's entire life. I have not plugged it in since taking delivery of it when I went to the dealer to pick it up. I played it plugged in there, then asked the dealer to remove the battery, and I zero'd out the volume and tone dials.
The strings were detuned one whole step and the neck is absolutely straight and true as a result.
The guitar's condition is as I received it and it still smells as it did from the factory inside the sound epaulet.
If anyone else wishes to purchase this piece, I would be happy to return their email. Feel free to speak with Trader Jim as he has seen and held this piece and has been quite generous in taking the pictures of it for me and has inspected it personally.

I'm beginning to think he had a bad experience with broccoli as a child. You know, it starts off like "Eat that or you can't have any dessert" then escalates and gets nasty. We may be judging him too harshly, it could all be a childhood trauma.

Location: Maine | As others have mentioned, I too like the later and style cutaway shape. Jerome mentioned liking the prototypes. Notice this cobalt blue one and Jeromes have the KMC Group label.( I really prefer this blue over the typicial "eye Shadow" blue.)
Looking at the pics in Jeromes link it appears that you can see the cut away protion that was grafted into a typical fiberglass body. That's the stuff thats cool to me as well. I also have a slightly later 1587-5 KMC Group proto cutaway w/ the new EQ in black from 1981. It also has the cut away portion grafted in. Sadly i need to send it in since a brace has come loose at its end way below the bridge, and it seems to "buzz" as a result. .. MWoody has a pic or two of this one.. maybe he can post a small pic of it faster that I can...

As of this time, it is being held waiting for a check to arrive and clear.
If something happens to change this event, the guitar will be re-posted, but I don't anticipate that occurance transpiring.
My thanks to all who sent me emails with offers and wise advice concerning this piece as well. I sincerely appreciated everyones input.
This is a wonderful forum.

This wasn't the kind of visit where you lust over someone elses guitar. Because every freeking one there was amazing. I've actually never seen anything like it, a collection of people sitting around playing and every damn guitar was just simply stunning.
Instead of coming home with a "wish list", I think we all came home with an appreciation of how damn lucky we are to be able to own these things and how fortunate to be able to attend such a gathering.

What Dave said is true, every one was a great guitar, even the basic D1s. More than 50% were sunburst too. |

Didn't matter, they all honked. Group was smaller than the 1st OFC gathering. Maybe 20 people. Most stayed at the same inn and lots of just sitting around playing, drinking, laughing and just hanging out. You know, how we usually do it.
