Location: South of most, North of few | Making room at the homestead so these are next to go. The 1537 had a top crack and eppie damage when I bought it, so it made the trip to the MS. They removed the old eppies, bridge, and top finish, repaired the crack, reapplied the clear finish with new eppies. You can still see where the crack was, but they did their usual magic and it's not too easy to pick out. It still has the original top so the great sound the 1537 is known for is still there.
The beauty on the right is a 1768. Much like the 1537 with a cutaway. Deep bowl with OP24 preamp and cream binding. Beautiful sound also, very close to the 1537.
Will sell both for $1300.00 plus shipping. Would like to keep these around, and if no bites, they will stay, they just don't get played enough.

| TJ, are you ever gonna keep a 1537? Oh, wait, I forgot who I was asking...never mind :D
That is a crazy good price for this pair of outstanding guitars. I want to say best of luck but I really think you should keep 'em. |

Now that I'm broke , with no Job and spending what little I have on my Son for Christmas, that 1768 sure would look nice next to my 1758 12 string? Are you a generous guy? Merry Christmas Bob! (LOL!!!!) :D ;) |

We were practicing the other day, I was playing the 12 string and my buddy says "Hey Bob turn down your volume I said: "what do you mean?? Do you see a cord anywhere"?? He was shocked I was't plugged in!!! :D |

But you never see a listing that refers to "typical gibson need for a neck reset" or the "typical unplayable taylor neck", and not to mention "typical Breedlove intonation problems" and last but not least the "typical guild pop off bridge". Sheesh ...
Look in the bright side, at least he didn't say the back and side were made out of plastic.

Too bad it cost $3000. Hell for that I'd rather have a sweet ass Adamas. Or half that and a nice GXi from CA, or even an Ovation 2774LX.
But then value for the money is a big factor for me. For some it's not. |

Location: northern virginia | Hi - I'm the lucky guy that got the 1768 (my wife bought it on ebay). I'm kinda new around here...well, actually I am and I'm not, since I joined back around 2003 or so, but other hobbies pulled me away for years...anyway, Jim, she is an awesomely nice guitar, and she far exceeds what I had hoped for. I gave her a fretboard oiling, multiple coats of polish, new strings, and just so slightly loosened the truss rod to give her just a touch of relief, and WOW - all I can say is WOW. Jim, thank you! |

I'm glad it got there in one piece and that you are enjoying it. It is a great sounding guitar and in nice shape. I'd put it right up with the 1537, which, attention everyone, is still for sale. Catch me in a week moment, and I might just surprise you on price! |

Personally, I think Taylors are pretty well made, have a pretty nice tone going on and have a great feel. Insanely over-priced but, sure, they're ok guitars. Bottom line - if I could throw out $3k on a git, it just wouldn't be a Taylor. But I'm not going to slam them either - they built a brand that few can match so good on them. |

Weaser, you're right and I apologize for getting testy...In my defense I was having a particularly bad day (winter lowers my pain threshold) and probably should have just let it roll off...but, while I do like my Taylor's and have been down this road several times on this forum, I'll be the first to admit that everyone has their own opinion; and along with that I have mine... |

Location: SoCal | You knnow, Weas pretty well nailed it. For those who love them, they are a great guitar. I've just yet to pick one up that speaks to me. Almost every Larivee, Lowden, and Breedlove (talking production line guitars, not boutique guitars like Santa Cruz or Collings) that I've picked up have made me stop and take notice. But Taylors don't do that for me.
A guy who plays with us at church plays a 314 Taylor and loves it. Last night we were rehearsing unplugged, and compared to my GC RI, to my ear, his guitar lacked cajones. It sounded thin. But again, he loved it.
It's all ice cream. Different flavors for different folks. And some people are lucky and have more than one flavor in their refridgerator. If I could, I would. But to me, Taylors are like rocky road. I just don't care for it...... |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I keep thinking of that YouTube clip where the guy compares the Martin to his Adamas. The first time I watched it, I thought the Adamas sounded great with little effort and the Martin sounded thin, even though he was wailing on it. I was shocked when he thought he was demonstrating the Martin's superiority. I think all he demonstrated was that he liked it.
I have a friend who is very musical and so is his wife. He had an Alvarez for years and tried "everything" before buying a Taylor. I was shocked at how much he paid for it, but you guys have tought me to overcome that sticker shock. |
