Location: Phoenix AZ | I've got two Ovation Related CD's that I will gladly send FREE to a good home. Artist is CLARK BYRON who many of you on the board know and I think he may be a member.
Clark, who I met by way of my good friend Mr. Moody was kind enough to send me two of his CDs. Then I went to see Clark in performance here in Tempe at a local church (yes, I went to church). Anyway, I felt guilty about the whole self-service donation table, merchandise sales, collection plate, etc. Not really knowing the protocol and figuring I had at least a few things to seek forgiveness over, I laid a Franklin in the plate and picked up the 2 CDs. CDs that I already owned. Anyway, these are brand new, not copies, in fact still sealed and I'd be happy to pass them along to someone.
So what's the Ovation tie in. Well, not only is the music good and Clark is a great performer. But the front cover of "Precious Cargo" is a photo of Clark playing his 12-STRING VIPER and the back cover of "In That Day" is a cool shot of Clark's SUNBURST ELITE. And these are both custom LEFT HANDED GUITARS. Very cool.
Email or PM me if interested.

Location: SoCal | Clark's a good buddy of mine. He's won awards in Kansas City for his singing and songwriting.
And I do know the story on the lefty Viper 12 string. The sunburst Elite was a factory lefty, not a custom job. Clark no longer has either one. About 3-4 years ago, he had the factory make him a left handed Folklore, w/ gold tuners, and glossed neck. He love the wider neck as well as the sound. Along with that guitar, he's got a "converted to lefty" Patriot that was "once lost and now found", as well as a factory lefty, mid 70's Country Artist that I got for him.
At one time, he had a ton of older Ovations that he carefully converted to left handed. Then after he met me, his collection improved to better quality O's (somewhat like Toby's improved in the same years) and now it's narrowed down to just a few that he does all his playing on.
I'd tell Clark about this thread, but Toby's post might hurt his feelings (unopened cd's?)....... |

I think passing along the gift that Clark gave to me, to someone else who will also enjoy them, Clark would consider a good thing. Heck, it's not like I tried to sell them on ebay, although the thought did cross my mind.

So he had one built. Left handed. The body had no cavities carved into it (belly bulges?) but he got the Viper electronics (look at the pictures, it has the Viper single coils on it) and a Deacon neck and had somebody built it for him.
Problem was, they never got the intonation right and he ended up selling it. Oh well..... |
