I bought Dave Tupperware's old guitar about 2ish years ago... still playing like the day I bought it... it's now up on eBay.
I'm still awaiting all the facts of the guitar as Dave might remember them.. I'd love for him to post them here as well. Otherwise I will add them to the auction in the next couple days, I'm sure.
Here's the link.. thanks and God bless!

Location: SoCal | actually, appears to be what Dave describes as Ovation Balladeer
The following is from his website web page
Ovation Balladeer 12-String:
The first Ovation 12-string ever to be introduced was part of the original shiny bowl series. Various early documentation called it either the "Ovation 12-String" or the "Balladeer 12-String". In either case it borrowed features from most of the other shiny bowl models. The 1-7/8" wide 12-fret neck was the same as the Josh White, but the slotted headstock was elongated to accommodate the 12 open geared tuners. The fret markers and rosette were identical to the Deluxe Balladeer, however the sound hole was smaller. This effect of the smaller soundhole with the full sized rosette actually gave the guitar quite an attractive look. Ovation claimed that the smaller soundhole helped to produce a harsichodian effect. Of course this model shared the deep shiny bowl with the rest of the line in those days. Early 12-strings had a 3-piece spruce top, while later ones such as that shown below (serial number A-808 from 1968) had a 2-piece top.
He lists the specs as:
Model number Balladeer 12 String
Instrument type 12 string acoustic
Year of manufacture 1968
Body type Deep bowl
Bowl Black shiny finish
Top Sitka Spruce AAA
Body binding 5 ply
Bracing Ovation Fan bracing
Scale length 25 1/4"
Fretboard Ebony
Fret inlay MOP dot inlays
Bridge Brazilian rosewood
Rosette Inlayed floral w/ small sound hole
Nutwidth 1 7/8 "
Tuners Open gear w/ white buttons
Neck 5 piece gloss
Headstock Gloss slotted
Headstock logo Gold decal
Label Blue New Hartford label
I have this model also. It is a rare, wonderful 12-string and looks like it is in great condition. It should sell very quickly. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | It must be tough having multiple personalities. One doesn't know what the other one did. He probably tells his wife that he didn't buy those guitars, some guy named Tupperware did it.
Don't feel bad, Dave. I'd like to have just one personality. |

I KNEW I had read posts about Dave selling this guitar, even remembering it was a Mike (although thinking it was Mishka Mike). Then when Dave thought it was stolen I thought I must have been losing it...thankfully, it wasn't me after all ;) .
I chuckled when I saw it on the 'bay.
The upside of the thing, Dave, is that you didn't get ripped off after all and did get paid for it (asking price 1K, by the way)...although you probably don't remember what you spent it on! :) |
