| have fun, and looking forward to the "fish stories"
here's an idea - if there's a GuitarDiGras Dos, those of us non-golfers should go out on a charter fishing expedition. |

| if you go out about a mile and a half straight east from the lighthouse, there's a couple of nice wrecks for mackerel, and also a lot of great spots for doormat flounder...
my father was born in Margaret Mays Hospital, and he and his father built the family home one block off the back bay in Wildwood..
and today is my Father's Birthday... Happy Birthday Dad!!! we miss you!!... his ashes are scattered in the back bay..
Tight Lines Al!!!

Location: NJ | Actually, the place where Al is today (he "surf fishes") is probably one of the prettiest spots on the JerseyShore. It's the oldest seaside resort town in the US, and he's got a broad expanse of big, gorgeous Victorian homes/hotels at his back, and even more gorgeous surf in front of him.
I'm jealous . . . |

Location: NJ | well a few nibbles but no catches. a couple down the beach told me how they caught stuff all afternoon guess I was using the wrong bait or hooks or whatever but it really did not matter.
a beauty of a day turned overcast and after about 3 hours of soaking line it started to rain. no problems we were out of bait anyway. Nothing more relaxing than watching the water for a few hours.
bobbo
I am still alive and have ate fish caught off the coast of jersey many times.
cliff
Harpoon henry's is still there. stopped by for dinner. My nephew had the burger which I have to admit they seem to do better than the sea food. I have no clue how a place that is 20 yards from the water can have such crappy sea food.
best onion rings on earth though.
gotta do this again in a couple of weeks. |

Location: NJ | Yer right, it was MUCH better when it was Whaler's Cove. When I lived down there, my daughter & I would RUSH down there after dinner to watch/listen to "the Sun touch the Water" on the beach & have a Rum & Coke (Rum for me, Coke for her) at th'Cove.
Jeanette & I are talking about doing an extended weekend down there ('round September, sometime - after the Tourists're gone). Mebbe we can do a little mini-OFC-thing??
We can just show up at Henry's w/my PA & some guitars & take the place over . . . . |

there were folks with jimmy buffet shirts and that made me nervous. |

Location: NJ | A few years ago I played a solo gig at a little Mexican reataurant in the town I was living in.
About a week later, I was driving home on a Friday night and thought I'd "reciprocate" by patronizing the place for an after-work drink.
I walk into the place, and the bar area is DEAD.
It's just the barmaid, and this little Mexican guy playing a cheesy Casio keyboard with a built in rhythm-machine and singing bad Mexican tunes.
I was JUST about to do a "180" and slip-out undetected, when the barmaid shouts out "Hey, Cliff!! . . what'll y'HAVE??!!!"
sh!t.
I figure "okay, I'll have ONE "quick one", my Good Deed'll be done, and I'll be on my way.
I order a Myers on the rocks, with lime.
The barmaid (who's very FIRST night was the night I'd played the week before) was still a little "green" in the ways of bartending, and was struggling to complete the order. I had to point out the bottle to her on the bar. She then says "WHAT did you want this with???"
"Myers . . on the rocks, . . with lime, please".
More befuddlement.
"Myers."
"Rocks."
"Lime."
She then proceeds to take a tall water glass, threw some cubes in, and filled it with rum.
Pretty much a QUARTER of the bottle.
She sets the glass down in front of me, hoping that she got it "right" and sheepishly says:
"That'll be . . . four dollars???"
Now, this was at the height of my appreciation for rum, and I was sitting there with the "Bargain of the Century".
That was the GoodPart.
The BadPart was that I had to sit & drink it while listening to CarlosCasio butcher HerbAlpert's "SpanishFlea" for 20 minutes.
It was ABsoluely Horrid!!!
I drank it as fast as I could, and kept asking the barmaid for "more ice" which I crunched-on to drown out the din.
It was the "longest" drink of my life. |

Location: NJ | reminds me of this rory gallagher tune I used to do back in my college days..
Too much alcohol,
Yeahhh....
I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol,
Well, I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol.
Ahhh.........
Told the man to put in some water,
But he wouldn't put in a drop at all.
I was drinking my straight alcy,
And I went walking on down the street,
Well, I was drinking my straight alcy,
And I went walking on down the street.
Yeahhh....
Well, my eyes got so heavy,
I nearly fell half asleep.
Well, I like sherry brandy,
My baby sure like gin,
Well, that little girl I got,
Sure put me in the,
Spin I'm in.
Well, I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol.
Yeahhh....
I told the man to put in some water,
But he wouldn't put in a drop at all.
Whisky make me drowsey,
And gin can make you think,
Well, a common cold can kill ya,
But, my baby tell me to drink,
I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol,
Yeahhh....
I told the guy to put in some water,
But he wouldn't put in a drop at all,
One hundred per cent alcohol,
Well, let me have some.
Well, I like sherry and brandy,
My baby sure likes gin,
And that little girl I got,
Sure put me in,
The spin I'm in.
I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up, pick up a jug of alcohol,
Yeahhh....
I told the man to put in some water,
But he won't put in a drop at all.
Ninety one per cent,
Better make it ninety two,
Ninety three per cent,
Ninety four, that'll do,
Ninety five,
Ninety six,
Ninety seven per cent,
Ninetyeight,
Bartender that's ninety nine,
Make it one hundred per cent,
One hundred per cent,
One hundred per cent,
Wanna try some,
I wanna try some,
One hundred per cent,
Then I won't feel a thing at all. |

It sounds like that scene from El Mariachi where the Mariachi goes into the bar looking for a job and the bartender says he's got a whole band, and then this "musician" sits down behind a casio and poops out a facsimile of music. Very funny scene.
PS Si no he visto El Mariachi, El Mariachi es el mejor, y primero, de los Mariachi peliculas. Miralo y disfrutarse! |
