Information about my Balladeer Special

My wife has recently offered me a Balladeer Special S861-W. The serial is 561763, finishing satin and the pre-amp is OP24+. The case is of super shallow type. Where can I find the characteristics of this guitar ? I asked the seller about the age of the guitar and he answered they had it for two years in the shop. I also told him that the serial indicates a date of manufacture in 2001 (according to the OVATION Site). He answered me that it can be an unsold in USA which had then be sent in France! Is it possible? Are there big différences between S 771 and S 861 ? The posts are more often talking about the 771 ... What does the W means ? Which type of amp do you recommand me to purchase ?
