Thanks, another question for you experts...I've seen a lot of supposely new Glen Campbells described as "factory refurbished"...what's the story with them? Are these old stock 40th anniversary?Anybody have experience with these guitars?

I have a 40th Anny K-1111 that is Factory Refurbished. (#006)
If it has a serial number in the 600000 range, and a second three digit number, it is one of the 40th Anniversary Series.
I think that they re-made the K1111, the K1114, the 1627GC and the 1618GC.
(If I am wrong, someone will correct me)

FRG usually means that there was some flaw found in the USA factory, and they repaired the flaw.
[Off-Shore manufacture doesn't do that, they just sell them to a junk dealer who stamps "USED" on them, tunes them up, and sells them anyway.]

I am not sure about this, but I believe that ALL the 40th Anniversary K1111's (and maybe the K1114, 1627GC, and 1618GC) have that sticker cuz they dug-out the old parts to built the re-issues. Mine is #006 and it is an FRG.
But, in general, I would expect a Quality instrument. Ovation's FRG's are probably in better shape than alot of manufacturers first run.
Think about it... Someone actually found a flaw, so they went outta their way to fix it.
New FRG's come with a five year warranty. Old FRG's from the OFC just come with our personal "Seal of Approval". :cool:

If you do a google search for FRG you will probably get the Federal Republic of Germany.
But if you click 'search' at the top of the page, and look under General Posting and For Sale you might find something.

That is my understanding (or guess)...
All the ones that I have seen on evilBay have been FRG's.
Now, there might be someone here who got one from Al or another reputable source who can say different.
Mine originally came from Cream City (Warpdrive) Music, to another person, then to me.
But I am just going by personal experience and limited research.

Personally, I got mine secondhand "Buy It Now" within an hour of it being posted the da' Bay. And I got a heck of a deal too.
No warranty and some pick tracks, but whaddaya want for <$600? :eek: I'm Happy!
