http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:...
And I'd like to ask the experts of the board if they ever made the Glen Campbell signature in black and without his signature...   |

....Unless someone would cut off the screw heads, glue them in place, and double sided tape a tr cover on.... ;) |

Thanks in advance, Alex. I have a 40th Anny K-1111 that is Factory Refurbished. (#006)
If it has a serial number in the 600000 range, and a second three digit number, it is one of the 40th Anniversary Series.
I think that they re-made the K1111, the K1114, the 1627GC and the 1618GC.
(If I am wrong, someone will correct me) |

Sorry, I've troubles with the software of this board, anybody can enlighten me about the FRG subject? Are they a good deal? If you do a google search for FRG you will probably get the Federal Republic of Germany.
But if you click 'search' at the top of the page, and look under General Posting and For Sale you might find something.
This is what FRG looks like... (FRG meaning Factory Reconditioned Guitar)
FRG usually means that there was some flaw found in the USA factory, and they repaired the flaw.
[Off-Shore manufacture doesn't do that, they just sell them to a junk dealer who stamps "USED" on them, tunes them up, and sells them anyway.]
I am not sure about this, but I believe that ALL the 40th Anniversary K111's have that sticker cuz there dug-out the old parts and built the re-issues.
But, in general, I would expect a quality instrument. Ovation's FRG's are probably in better shape than alot of manufacturers first run.
Think about it... Someone actually found a flaw, so they went outta their way to fix it.
New FRG's come with a five year warranty. Old FRG's from the OFC just come with our seal of approval. |

And basically there are no "non reconditioned" 40th anniversary?
I'm intrigued by the idea of getting a NOS guitar... |

I'm intrigued by the idea of getting a NOS guitar... That is my understanding (or guess)...
All the ones that I have seen on evilBay have been FRG's.
Now, there might be someone here who got one from Al or another reputable source who can say different.
Mine originally came from Cream City (Warpdrive) Music, to another person, then to me.
But I am just going by personal experience and limited research.
Personally, I got mine secondhand "Buy It Now" within an hour of it being posted the da' Bay. And I got a heck of a deal too.
No warranty and some pick tracks, but whaddaya want for <$600? I'm Happy! |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Cuthbert, when I got the K1111 the previous owner bought it to try it out.
I don't know what he paid for it, but he said that it was a demo and had the pick-tracks when he got it.
I wasn't really looking for an Old Shiny, but I posted it here, and nobody jumped on it.
So I said screwwit and bought it about an hour later.
And yeah, it can be pretty loud. The shiny bowl just attracts dust tho...
BobbyB sez he has one for $1300 on his website, $1500 on evilBay.
But they made less than a hundred of them. A LOT less...
There is a 40th Anny 1618-1 Glen Campbell 12 in the UK... For 1500 pounds!
[I have no idea how much that is in Real Money :p ] |

[I have no idea how much that is in Real Money :p ] 1500 quid are a ot of money indeed!Evil Bay UK has one for less, personally, I'd have liked to find an original burst GC here, but it seems pretty difficult, besides that, most of the pacemakers and CGs I've seen are in pretty bad shape, I don't think they were gently used through the years... :( |

The K1111 and K1114 reissues were built completely out of brand new parts. The only thing 60's about them is the design.
They were certainly not all FRG's. They didn't sell worth a shit, so either 1) they found a whole big bunch of them with flaws to fix and reconditioned them as "FRG's", or 2) they slapped an FRG sticker on 1st quality guitars to blow them out cheap. Pick the theory that best suits your needs.
Same story for the GC and Pacemaker reissues. |
