Ask the seller if he will drop it off at a UPS store for you. It will cost you about $100 to have it shipped but UPS guarantees safe delivery. I'd go after it myself but I don't have the money. |

Joisey Goil #1 and Honorary Joisey Goil by Way of South Dakota announce the proud acquisition of this 12-stringer. (I just talked to Ali, and she will share more tomorrow.)
I will go and inspect it on Sunday and (hopefully) acquire it; then I will send her on to her new home.
The neat part is, the owner is located less than a mile from where I attend church, so it will be a piece of cake to go pick it up.
I will leave the gloating and posting of pictures to Ali; I am just the "adoption agency" here.

This is the most fantastic group of people on the internet. My wallet may be poorer since I've joined, but my life is richer. And MAN! Have I got some nice guitars! |

I couldn't believe it when Iffy offered to check out a guitar for me when I was a brand new member (thanks again, bug man, even if the deal didn't happen).
Congratulations, and good going Karen! Hey, do I get a number? I feel left out, haha.
I am quite close to the NJ shore area, so please never hesitate to ask me if you see something you're interested in or around my area ~ and that goes for the rest of you all, too. ;)

I've been home for two hours and now that I'm relaxed, the keyboard is 'rocking' just like I'm still on the water...
Again, another fantastic OFC team job! |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Elgin, yes, that was my shop. The guitar you played was one of my Bean Blossoms made by Morgan Monroe. It was yellow, right? Great guitar and they don't make 'em anymore so the two that I have are not for sale. You ought to come up again. We have jam sessions almost every day.
Bob, I think I probably have enough guitars for everyone. I know Karen will be playing the Parlor, and Iffy (if he) can make it, will be taking it home when he leaves. The twelver will probably be gone by then. I bought it to sell. It'll probably be gone within hours. I have customers looking for twelve strings, and there is nothing that sounds as good as an O. |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Well, any of you who have been following the story know that Karen kept the Pacemaker and sent me her 1758 Elite 12 instead. I just got it. What a great guitar! Just as I finished tuning it a guy came in and guessed the price to be about a thousand dollars. All of my regulars were drooling over it. If I played a twelver I wouldn't let it go. I will be putting it on the wall, but if it doesn't sell right away I will perhaps get used to a 12 string and wind up keeping it. (NO ALI, PUT THE GUITAR DOWN!! :D ) |

But even if you ain't a 12-string virtuoso, they come in handy.
Wish You Were Here
Lucky Man
Hotel California
Tambourine Man (Byrds)
John Barleycorn sounds nice on a 12
Anything by Gordon Lightfoot or Leo Kottke
(No, I don't do Leo... be nice if I could) |

The 1758 was my first chance to get a 12-string, and because it had been Robbie's and he treated me more than fairly when I bought it, at first I was reluctant to let it go. (And, Robbie's been the best brother in the world to me since my Jack went home, so there was the sentimental attachment to it, too.) But, I comparison-played the two, back and forth, back and forth, several times, and realized that the Pacemaker was much lighter and a great easier for me to play.
So, when I asked Ali if she'd consider swapping, it was a good situation for both of us--either way, we'd both do well.
And as you can see from Ali's post, the rest of the story turned out really well, indeed. (And I'm even more phototechnically-challenged than our Black Hills gal is... ;) )

What color is it?
I love my pair...outstanding 12 strings (both the Elite and the Pacemaker!
Congrats to both you and Karen! |

And...the Pacemaker is now re-strung (Joisey Goil #2 assisted greatly in the process...I couldn't have done it without her.) It is a cannon--we had so much fun playing together tonight after we got it strung--switching back and forth between the 12 and her Elite T. It is just so playable! I put Martin Marquis lights on it, and the difference is really amazing.
Thank you, Ali, for letting me keep her--she is a blessing already.
