So nice...it gets me scanning the wall to see how many guitars I'd have to sell to be able to afford it.

Me too Wayne...

They'd all have to go - and my pickup - and my neighbor's boat...

Nice offering Sam!

and it would be so worth it.

I might have to move out 4 of my Adamas but with #57 would you ever play any others?

There is a reason Cliff never buys any extra guitars!

Well, I discussed this with my Wife and she helped me to find a simple solution... I'll be buying that Lotto Ticket today.

Any chance you need a 200 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab pickup with a V6 and a lumber rack? I'll throw in a kayak or two?

I'm surprised #57 hasn't gone down under yet!

Woody, you discussed it with your wife?

Look, Explaining it afterwards is always tougher BUT you do end up with the guitar right? How is discussion in advance possibly going to lead to anything good?

Here's my motto: Any guitar that my wife would pre-approve of me buying is probably not a guitar I would want to own.

Buy now, 'splain later ...

This guitar still a dream for me!!!
Cécile (my girlfriend) told me: "if you want it, just buy it.."!!
But I will be in my new house in 6 days and I have to pay my banker for the next 15 years.
Good luck with your sale Sam, you can't imagine how much I regret to not be able to buy it!!
Just not the good timing...

Jerome, you can buy a house anytime, there's thousands of them out there..A rare slothead adamas may not ever come up for sale again, especially one in this condition..Call the bank and tell them the deal is off on the house. BUY # 57 !! Where are your priorities? :D :D

Agreed, not bad for a reissue !!!

Seriously, I wish I could "freeze" my slothead sound right now, and then come back in 30 years and compare the OFC I to it. It doesn't sound as good as a real slothead now, but it's starting with a 30 year disadvantage.

I wonder if kimby-d would notice if this one started hanging in the space where the OFC Ding!-O is right now. More to the point, I wonder if she'd notice the money was missing.

SWMBO wouldn't notice the new guitar nor the absence of the $$$, but she might ask why I just extended my target retirement date out another six months.

Willa, you're a conspirator and I'm not falling for it again. SWMBO wants a new house. Again. She says I can use it or the new furniture or car, so it's "ours". When I tell her she can use my guitars or golf clubs, so they're "ours", she never agrees.

LOL! OK; you are right; I'm wrong ... you are being VERY responsible, and I am certain you have enough guitars after all ... as I think Damon says, how many guitars are enough? Just one more. And for those of you who have suggested that I DON'T play mine, you are wrong! I DO! ALL of them, because they get lonely! I can't play like MM or G8r, but ... ah, nevermind!

Randy, yes it is bitter sweet selling #57.It is the best sounding adamas i have ever played. My opinion..I have owned 3 original slotheads, played three more and played many other regular adamas models. This one has it!! Having said that it is not the best sounding guitar i have ever played. The tone of a pre war D-28 herringbone is still burned in my head along with these three that i own.So yes it is bitter sweet but im still left with some pretty nice guitars to drown my sorrow..

My custom M-42( 0000-42) slothead with amberburst finish

My Goodall, with abalone bound body.Flame Koa binding.

Dave, back in the day? 10 years ago? Worth every penny for sure just by the look of them. If Sam decided to sell the slothead #57 and kept these two, the sound must be out of this world. Makes me green of envy!

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood the question. I was saying that these Original Slotheads sold for around $2500-3000. when they were NEW in 1976.

Sam, I never get tired of seeing that wooden slothead. It was great following that project, but the end result is beyond what I imagined.

Or about the same money as a brand new Pinto.

Hey Sam, Drop in a post a shot of your collection anytime I love looking at those amazing guitars.
I was a day late and a dollar short on this one for sure. That wood body Adamas you built is about the neatest dam guitar ever made BTW.

Randy, the wood body adamas is not only a beautiful guitar to look at but simply sounds amazing..I know Ovation(kaman) has the ability to actually build wood guitars. They have the knowledge and resources with takamine and Guild to pull off a adamas style multi-soundhole guitar made of all wood and im sure it would be incredible..Having said that i dont think they will ever do it. They are committed to the plastic back.

I been carving and building with wood for 30 years now Sam, Wanna go into the Guitar building business Sam? I think that's a hell of an idea. It would be one hell of a surprise to the Plastic Bowl Snobs to make a wood body that sounds great.
I always thought that shaping the laminated wood blanks into the roundback design would be the perfect union to an Adamas Carbon Fiber Top.
Once you get a Machine or two tooled up to do the high speed cutting and sanding, the assembly line process should make the creation of the wood blanks from wood already cut to a basic size and glued up in presses cheap enough to do as a production guitar.
I know it would give me horrible GAS to have an Adamas Top (old school) non of the Q crap, married to a beautiful round bowl made from wood. it would still be very durable and if cut correctly it might be lighter weight than the current bowls.

Ahhhhh to dream........

Never had the pleasure to play a Goodall but I have heard nothing but praise for them. That one looks fabulous.

And as far as Martins go.....hard to beat a 42 anything and that amberburst is a real beauty. I just love my flamed myrtle OM42.

One of the attorneys that work in my building custom ordered one and I make a point to go down and strum it every now and again. He's fascinated with my 1537 and the Ute and I'm totally in lust with the Goodall. Just a fabulous guitar. Find one to spend some time with, T. It's well worth the effort.

Like I need to find another guitar that might create some GAS......no thanks! I got enough on my plate without more guitars to lust over.
