A guy here has a mid 80's Legend 1867 for sale. It sure is purdy, but is it known as one of the nicer old Ovations? Anyone know?

As with all super-shallow bowls, they're great plugged in, but a bit thin acoustically compared to deep bowls. I had an 1869, which is the blingy version of the 1867 (carved bridge, ab binding) and it was a sweet guitar. But not the tense - I no longer have it.

Actually, this is not a shallow bowl. This is an old 1867, big bowl from long ago...I want to say 1983?

Bob, all 1867's regardless of age, are shallow bowls. The second digit in the model number indicates the bowl depth . The deep bowl Legends would be 11xx (no pre-amp) 16xx OR 17xx.

Unless it's custom made, 1867 is 4-1/2 inch depth bowl.

If you look at the picture of the pre-amp, it sure looks like a deeper bowl. Must be an optical illusion.

Yeah, but I still think it's a 4.5

Look at the photo of the soundhole and label, looks like the supershallow to me.
