Location: SoCal | I am at that stage of insanity that I am seriously interested in buying one of the original Adamas slotheads. Not concerned if standard neck or one of the few wide-necks although I might offer a couple of Pesos extra for a wide-neck. Nor am I concerned about who played it on Friday evening on a particular date.
I am concerned, as would be expected, in the condition.

| Tony, Samova is selling his right now. I offered a substaintial sum nearly 5 digits but he has a price in mind. Check it out it should still be right here on the first page of the FS section. His is a wide nut version in the #8. Connection to Paul & Wings is very cool as well.
Just bought a shallow bodied adamas 1 and am working on a double neck Rickenbacker to replace one I should never have sold, or I'd offer more as well.
Good Luck

Thanks...
Sam knows my interest (talked to him last week) but there is a previous offer pending or completed. |

| Tony I guess I am just not in here enough anymore to stay up to date. Did not know this. Congrats Sam!
I too had the Original Slothead Twinge when I saw Sam's again.
Good luck Buddy, Perhaps one day the planets will align just right for me as well. Came as close as I ever have on this one.
I hope I can make the Florida Trip one day, I'd like to just see Bill's Guitars. I am only a novice of a collector but I really have grown to appreciate the classic instruments very much.

| Now that I read that last one...........
It would be nice to meet you as well Bill, but it's the guitars I want to spend time with.......I know you understand. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Randy, you should take a look at this beautiful book by Jonathan Kellerman. For less than $50, you'll see photos and read the history of many museum-quality guitars. Its about as good as it gets for those of us who aren't likely to ever see these significant instruments, much less actually own one.

| Yes there are nice books, and thanks for the suggestion but Bill might let me play one of his if I ask nice enough.
I have been lucky enough to have owned a few very nice guitars. Sadly I have had to sell them through the years. I will once again own a few as I plan to not only own them but use them on stage for as long as this band project lasts.
I don't think I would ever be in the position finacially to own the real rare instruments but that's OK I really would want to use them and it is not practical to do this with guitars that rare and valuable.
I want to replace my Double Neck Ricenbacker (that will happen soon). I have a nice mid 70's strat, a room full of various guitars and basses and I have always had three or four Adamas 1's around for acoustics, so my hands are full and I am very lucky and satisfied.
I had a moment of collectors gas when I saw that Slot Head and I offered a substantial sum, all in all I am glad I did not get it as I would be very worried about using it and I found a shallow bodied Adamas 1 that will be perfect for stage use.
Tony is next in line for one of these great old Ovations and I sure hope one comes along again soon. |

Location: SoCal | Over the years, the original ? 34 slotheads have been discussed with awe by those who own them or have had an opportunity to play them for fleeting moments. There should be a lot of info in archives. They are elusive, both in cost and the fact that they are rarely offered for sale.
To console myself, I have the 47RI and the OFC. However, nothing that I have can match this guitar. From OvationTribute.com:

| Every time I see one of those guitars and I know it is for sale, I break into a sweat.
That was really quick Tony! If I ever get the itch again I think I'll call you to help me track one down. |

Always nice when a friend (Michael) sees your plight and offers to sell one of his two. Without his help, it might have taken me years to find one, let alone one this nice. It is like finding NOS (new old stock).
When my dad died a couple of years ago, he left me a couple of CD's which I had redeemed and kept aside for something like this. Nice to think he bought the OFC and #50 for me.
So, two gifts - one from Michael and one from my dad. |

| Sometimes things are meant to be. Hope ya give me a few minutes play time on it if I ever manage to meet you or make an event. Those guitars have almost a magical presence. And a very exclusive Club you've now joined.
Your Dad would be very pleased to know that some of this money was well invested on such a valuable and beautiful instrument.
Enjoy |

The value may not grow at the rate of a cd but it sure will be a hell of a lot more fun to own.
I am planning on attending NAMM this year so we can finally hang out a bit! |
