| I'm a relatively new player (Jan 08) and will be receiving my 2778 in a few days. While I've read that the unplugged sound is good I'm interested in matching my O to an amp.
My budget will be less than $300. I don't gig so I wouldn't need an extremely loud amp. A mic input and headphone output would be nice. Can you recommend an amp that make my O sing? Also, what is a footswitch?
I'm mainly a chord strummer at the moment trying to pick up flat picking. I like to play rock and pop.
Thanks in advance,
T |

Location: Vernon CT | Welcome aboard Tom!! While I have a Fishman Loudbox 100 which I love and got on clearance
for $450.00 (Reg $599.00) there are many quality acoustic amps out there. There have been a couple of recent Topics simular to your question recently. (go to the search area at the top of this page under the "Post poll button" and key in Amps. Check those out. You will also get some good advice from others as the read your topic.
Also, Try your local Craigslist ads. I've seen some decent Acoustic amps being sold fairly cheap
lately here in CT/Mass/RI. area Good Luck!! |

| Welcome, Tom. Make sure you look at acoustic amps, since amps designed for electric guitars won't (generally) produce a good tone with an acoustic guitar.
If you only need it for your own enjoyment in a small room like your living room or den, the Crate Acoustic 10W or 15W is probably more than adequate. A nicer amp, but more expensive, is the ShenBenz Jr.
Shoot off a message to Al Pepiak (alpep), one of the moderators and co-founder of this board. He's a music gear dealer and might have something on hand, and could certainly guide you to what would be best for you. He's also a great guy to do business with, and offers amazingly good deals. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Call me a hypocrite, but if you are just starting out and are primarily strumming in your house, you don't need much. A 15 Watt acoustic like g8r said is plenty, unless your real purpose is to annoy the neighbors. In that case, there are lots of other things you can do.
If you want a great amp that may be all you ever need for your life, see if Al has any of those Genz-Benz left. Definitely get an acoustic amp, though. Those effects on the other amps won't do anything for your acoustic guitar. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | You guys snap at any bait, but I'm throwing you both back. If I was really a hypocrite, I'd tell him to just be satisfied with one guitar. |
