Location: Tidal Mudflats of Virginia | Time has come to revisit the option of moving this out to someone that will play it.
Purchased new from Lost Vintage Arts May 2006. Serial #9, 9158-0 case. $4,300-OBO, shipped lower 48. I will also entertain partial cash and trade offers. This guitar has less than 20 hours total play time on it, like new condition. Certificate's of Authenticity. Case has a couple of scuff marks from storage in the closet. Will also include OFC special slothead custom order soft leather strap with full price sale.
I have more pictures posted in my PicasaWeb: 1187-247 For sale |

Good Luck on the sale! |

Location: Right now? | Oh, geez, Tim. I wish you didn't have to sell her. This is my very, very favorite guitar, hands downs! I think I'd get rid of every other guitar I owned before I'd sell mine.
Best wishes with your sale, and I sure do hope someone who will play her buys her.

Location: Tidal Mudflats of Virginia | It's a GREAT guitar, but I spend the balance of my time between the OFC I & II. They meet my acoustic needs perfectly. I don't need to sell the 47RI, I just don't want a case queen. I know we have some new members that didn't have the opportunity to snag one of these. This is only being offered here on the board, I'm not sending this off to ebay. |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Tim, I don't have to sell #189 either...but I am wanting to finish the OFC II purchase and it does give someone else a chance at these early guitars...in addition, I'm running out of closet and case space and you're running out of space on your music room walls...lol
The problem with nice collections is that it is increasingly difficult to decide which one to sell...and easy to talk yourself out of the sale...don't I know about that... |

I'm not shy and publish this more to identify the market price...which will continue to increase as more and more recognize the value of this rare instrument.
Couple of weeks ago...number 50 for $12,500. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Tony, Karl (Charlie Ramon) and others claimed that the #47RI sounded better than the OFC guitar. Initially I couldn't tell the difference, but now that I have both, I can detect a slight difference. Since I rarely plug in and prefer red to blue, the 47 really is the ultimate guitar for me. It has been the guitar that gets all my attention lately so that I have to remember to pay some attention to the others. Tim's may be the best Adamas available on the market right now. I hope someone here can appreciate that. |

Location: SoCal | I understand how fortunate to have the original, 47RI, and the OFC slotheads...as far as I know, there are a handful of regular posters on the OFC that have all three. By the way, the graphite case that Al got us for the OFC guitar is now the case for # 50.
I do believe that my # 3 47RI is better than my
# 7 OFC...not much and maybe it is because it is acoustic v. a/e. Both are great instruments and the OFC has the advantage of being an a/e two knobber.
I have noticed it also in the acoustic custom legends and Glen Campbells v. the same a/e. Not much and too many variables but nice that we have the guitars to compare.
No question about it...the original slothead is better than the 47RI. Course, a pre-war Martin is considered better than a current production vintage (if the old Martin has even survived).
Give the 47RI a few more years and hundreds of hours of playing time...then, it will be an interesting comparison with one of the 34 pre-production originals.
Believe me or not, I believe that the original slothead will be even harder to find, most likely transfer privately, and more expensive. The slothead 47RI or the slothead OFC will also be very hard to find...and, never produced again.
A custom order through the Mothership might be able to make an Adamas I (1687) with inlaids of Tinkerbell on the fretboard but the work that was done on the 47RI and the OFC slotheads would require a lot more, as well as a lot more cash. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I don't know anything about custom order pricing other than ones that I've had myself, but I would guess that to have a 47RI type guitar custom built today would be significantly more expensive than the 47RI's every were. Probably sniffing the 7-8k range if I had to guess.
Tony is spot on correct abot the comparisons. 47RI and OFC are close, but not idential. The 47RI has got some extra balls in there. But neither can do justice to an original slothead. They might in 30 years, and I hope I'm around to witness it. |

Last 2 original slotheads went for 12,500 each.
Should be interesting where one of the best copies lands. |

Location: New Jersey / New York | Well it's official, I've had this guitar for exactly one week and I'd like thank Tony Calman, alpep and especially Tim for helping me make an easy decision to acquire this guitar an even easier one. All I have to say is that I LOVE the guitar! It's unlike anything else I've owned and it has "that" sound! Talk about sonic boom! And I thought my 1719-30CM sounded amazing! I can't stop playing AND looking at this 1187-247! I'm very happy I was able to get this guitar from a class act such as Tim via the OFC! Tim definitely has converted another over to the Adamas side! Perhaps a 1687-8 Adamas I Reissue next? Adamas: Nothing else like them... On that note, let's go New York Yankees!!!
Best regards,
