| Is this a custom, or perhaps a private customizing job? Did not know they made a 12 fret 12 string with a slothead as a production 12 in a custom legend. Bet this has a great sound.
certainly unique enough. |

Location: SoCal | They made both a 1158 CL acoustic slothead and a 1658 CL a/e slothead; as well as the 1659 CL a/e with standard headstock.
Although I ended up selling it later, I had a 1158 dark sunburst.
As far as I know, natural and dark sunburst were the only production finishes. I have a natural [1980] and one that is very like the transparent almost cherry finish on the Anniversary 6-string [1979].
My dark sunburst 1659 CL is from 1985.
Check out this source on Jerome's OvationTribute.com (12-strings at end of PDF)

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Is it me or is the finish satin on that guitar .Usually when taking pics of ovation gloss black guitar there is glare everywhere but on two of these pics it looks like a flat satin finish no photo glare? Also it almost looks like you can see the outline of a burst finish under the black in the two pics? One other thing, there is a discoloration below the bridge just below the craved flowers.. Maybe im wrong but something does not add up.. |

Location: SoCal | I was wondering about that also...looks like it was 'polished' with a Herseys chocolate bar. Not the catalyzed polyester of a factory job. |

Location: Right now? | What a beauty. Love the way that headstock looks on the black body. It's hard to photograph a black guitar; you can tell it has a glossy top ~ look at the reflection in the Ebay listing's second to last photo. I had a bit of a hard time photographing this glossy one without glare:
Here's my 1158

Location: Right now? | So, did anyone from the OFC get that guitar? TJ? AJ? Tony? Jerome? I hope so. What a great deal for $710 ... I loved that burst headstock with the black ... REALLY pretty!

Location: SoCal | not me...although I am convinced the acoustic (1158) is better than the a/e (1658), the a/e is more versatile and easier to tune by plugging into a tuner. |
