GAF = Guitar Acquisition Fund

I found something I want, and with the new business, I've put myself on a strict cash neutral basis in the guitar arena. So I'm offering up a few select pieces that I don't play as much as others and/or I think some other folks here would cherish.

First up is a 1968 Josh White. All original. Handlaid fiberglass shiny bowl. Two planker bookmatched top with beautiful wide grain. Triangular rosewood bridge. 1 7/8" neck. Slothead. 12 fret. Ebony fretboard with mother of pearl (the real stuff) dots and diamonds inlays.

The condition of the guitar is not perfect, but it plays surperbly and sounds superb. It has been played and played and played in it's lifetime. It's got the mojo. But is also has it's share of slight wear marks, both on the top and on the back. Nothing serious. This does NOT need a trip to the factory for a refurb. There is no cracking or repairs anywhere around the binding, which is very nicely yellowed over time. The inlaid rosette is delaminating (meaning that is cloudy in three sections over about 60% of the rosette). Kim Keller told me to leave it alone. There are two small lacquer cracks, on less than 1" and the other about 1/2", coming diagonally off the bridge. You don't see them until you look for them. They are stable and haven't changed in the 5+ years I've had this guitar. There are some marks on the bridge that seem to have come from when someone strung it nylon. There is a bit of wear on the headstock but nothing I would call damage. The tuners are the original ones with the carved ivoroid buttons. The original rectangular label with typed model and s/n is still intact. There is one significant ding smaller than a pencil eraser head on the upper treble side bout. Aside from that, not much to say. There are a number of visible marks on the shiny back of the guitar, but no dents or cracks. Most of the marks simply show up as white specks but there is one longer one about 2" long that looks more like a scrape. In reality, they are all simply play marks. Again, nothing serious, just full disclosure. The action is great, currently strung with silk and steel strings. The headstock logos are still in great shape. Comes in an old style brown case ... perhaps not original but old, fits the guitar like a glove, and it's the case the guitar came to me in.

Overall it is in great condition considering it is a 41 year old guitar. There is no evidence of any repairs to any part of the guitar. And it sounds like a 41 year old guitar. Ideal for finger picking ... it is a loud and articulate 12-fret wide neck. This is a fairly rare piece and you don't see them for sale very often. I haven't seen one for quite a while so get this one while you can.

$1150 shipped to you in CONUS. Send me a PM or an email if you're interested. I can take some pictures and send them to you.

The one creating GAS must really be special. You are parting with a couple really nice guitars.

Good luck with it.
I look forward to playing the new one!
