Location: Oslo, Norway | WANTED: I have just bought an Ovation '78 Pacemaker on eBay. I need to install a pickupsystem in it as I will use it in a concert band. Can anybody advice me what equipment to install, and where to buy it? Original Ovation equipment is preferred.
Your help is highly appreciated. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | If it didn't have a pickup to start off with, will the bridge handle any pickup? I played an early one last week and although it didn't have a pre-amp, it had some sort of a pickup, that actually sounded pretty good, however, it didn't appear to be an Ovation pickup as it just has a single bone bridge. I'm guessing the pickup is some sort of soundboard pickup just mounted underneath. |

Is it possible to use a thinline pickup with a more modern OP-series preamp?
Since I am already asking dumb questions that illustrate my frightening lack of knowledge, I've always wondered; Are the pickups for Ovation (or anyone's) 12-stringers identical to the 6 string versions? |

Location: Michigan | All you need for the thinline is a hole and a new saddle. The thinline is the width of your slot in the bridge. You will need a new saddle that is scalloped out on the sides to fit into the thinline pickup. As far as the rest of the electronics go you can do that however you want. My 1115 has the thinline and just without any volume or tone controls. I got it from Glenn and he said that they did not want to put big hole in that nice shiney bowl so all I have is a small screw to hold the battery in place.

Location: Texas | Thanks Twisted, for the answer AND the nice photos to illustrate it…
I thought the pickups were actually glued to the bottom of the saddle and were therefore all one- piece, your photo seems to show that is not necessarily the case… |
