Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | This guitar could be the nicest beater you ever buy! Whoever had it before played it regularly, so it shows some players wear. But the guy definitely knew what he was doing where it counts. To wit; the set up on this thing is slick, I mean seriously low and fast. The neck is straight, the sound is...well...it's a Custom Legend for Pete's sake! It sounds great! The finish is in excellent shape with no dings or scratches. And it has the Optima Pre-amp...very nice! Here's the link to the Ovation specs page:
Custom Legend 1769
Now for the wear I mentioned...
The neck binding has several cracks at fret ends. Obviously it was allowed too get to dry at some point, but it's fine now, and I even oiled it a little to be safe. On the headstock, there is a circular scratch around the B-tuning post that's obviously from the string getting a little rascally. It's tough to see in the photo though. There's also a small scratch on the back of the headstock and some very minor scratching on the bowl.
Finally, if I were going to keep it, I would get a new saddle assembly (about $30 on eBay or from a BFLG'er). The one in it has some obvious grooving, though the strings still intone nicely. Also, the cowboy frets show some obvious wear, so they'll need replacing eventually. These last two are standard maintenance stuff that any well-played guitar needs sooner or later. Overall though, it's in great shape for being over ten years old.
I'm asking $775 shipped in the continental US. I'll ship overseas once we agree on a price. (It ain't as easy as it used to be I recently discovered. I was at the bloody post office for nearly 45 minutes filling out forms, etc.) And I almost forgot: It has its hardshell case which is also a dichotomy of appearance. The outside is a brown, road-warrior, duct tape special. But the inside is pristine! Go figure? The case is perfectly functional, but admittedly ugly. Still, it's obviously protected the guitar quite well.
Ask any questions. Layaway is an option, but I'm hoping to buy something nice for Christmas...know what I mean?

This one has about three dozen watchers already. Wonder how many from here...
It's still a STEAL at the moment though...up to $350. That's almost as much as a Celeb goes for. :p |
