Hi everyone
I'm new around the site and about to loose my virginity..yes that's right I am about to buy my first Ovation. I always wanted one then life took me away from guitars...but now I am back and all i want is this guitar. But i now need help from those in the know...apparantly the 1868 Elite T is now made in Korea and I am hearing I should buy a pre 2008 model as it's pre Fender's decision to 'made in Korea'. is this really the case? what's the best way forward.

I was in the same situation a month ago...get the usa model. Shop around, don't grab the first one you see. There are deals even on this website I wished I had waited for.

If it sez TX, it is made in Korea.

Simpler... You want one that sez USA on the headstock.

Edouin the bedouin now that is funny!
I have a 12 string T I will be letting go soon and I think War Eagle has a 6 string for sale right now, or someone in here does? I will have to look again but check the For Sale section ofr a while and look through the posts you find it. The 6 strings have become fairly resonable as there were more of them made. But the USA models are better for value. BTW These make a nice looking pair. But then again most any Ovations are capable of that.

Welcome to the group

Randy

I've posted quite a bit on this topic. The Koreans are not bad, but they're not as good. They're not ebony fretboarded and have thicker woodtops (slightly undoing what makes the textured T's so great).

If you're interested in an American midbowl T, I've got one in lusty red below. If you're looking for a black one, stay posted as I trade those in and out from time to time. If you really prefer the SSB and don't mind spending a little more, check out the SSB Adamas for sale here as well.

There. I gave you three choices :-) (In all three cases, I would concur: go American. They do have an audibly better tone).

Everyone

I thank you all for your help. Looks like I am going for Randy's 12 String T unless a 1868T pops up in the next day or so

Oh.. PsychoBunny they were pork ribs washed down with some belgian beer (it's not like the papers say it is out here!!), tongiht it was Red Snapper - yep it's Bar-B-Q season out here! but i'd let it all go for the right guitar!!

I thought you bought War Eagle's 6 string already?

And mine is not going anywhere if the only way you want to pay is for me to give you my bank account number so you can have your bank make the payment that way. ? Never heard that one before? Strange but clever to try and become a member then ask these odd questions to make payment. ...There are good people in here and I hope someone does not go for this.

Never ran into a sceme quite like that one before. You say you do not have access to Paypal? Odd if you can email and have a credit card/bank account you can get into Paypal.
Or you could also just send along a Bank Check... Hell; a personal Check is good with me.
I'll just hold it until it's verified.

Glad I did not get this all boxed up and take all that time to check exact prices.

BTW why did War Eagle not sell you that Elite T he has? it is a great price. Could it be the same reason? Bet it's a good guess.

Just want you all to know. Edouin might be OK but I won't be selling anything to him soon unless he can pay for it without asking for my bank name and address and acount number and Routing number? Never has question that been asked of me in my 48 years on this planet.
I don't trust myself with information like that. You must be on crack to think people will give this out, and to ask might actually be criminal. It sure ought to be!

I did not say he is a SCAM ARTIST....although it seems like he might be a SCAM ARTIST... I just think this group needs to know this information.. and decide for themselves if this guy is a SCAM ARTIST. I could be wrong.
