the first Mill-CB I\'ve ever seen with a top like that.
Mine(and every other one I've seen) has a cobalt blue top and you see the weave.

This might need to be shipped to the MS.
Nobody treated this poor thing with the respect it deserves. |

And what's the deal on the treble-side epi? An "innie" that's been added to so that now it's a huge "outie?" |

Willa I can field that one - the Japanese 20th century models did have a blue SMT Adamas called "The Universe" but it said "20th Century" (not Millennium) and the epis were a ghostly (ghastly blue) and not shaped like that Treble one.
This one has a story. |

Very interesting, John.
Some info here:
Millennium Info from Jerome\'s Ovation Tribute Site
Brochure from Jerome\'s Ovation Tribute page

That is a carbon fiber cobalt blue finished headstock face--this looks like a Mill neck and fretboard. The label looks good enough, but the bass side epi looks like it was glued with too much glue by someone other than the factory.
There's probably more that I missed. |

The treble epaulet is surely not original.
Not my cup of tea...

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Okay so it needs some work...nothing that the MS can't fix...having toured the factory I have seen extra parts: from one series or another that are not being used currently...since the serial number places it as a 2001, the logical answer is a Millennium built with an original neck mated to an SMT top...and yes, its been abused, unloved, and poorly repaired...but it can be fixed and may end up a bargain...just as soon as that awful treble epi is replaced... |

Location: Right now? | Noah, on second look, I realize my pic is still smaller than the other ones in this post, haha! When I posted it, I thought it would come out the size of the preview photo on the Ning site, which is where I copied the shortcut to the image, but it seems they transfer over in their larger size ... oh, well.
So, Mikey ... you gonna get this one and fix 'er up? If it stays around the current price, that might work out!
;)

So that's what they write up in a listing as "rare" huh? Yep, it's rare fer sure ... geesh! Really, really B A D. "Frankenstein" indeed!

Doesn't matter if they do.
Right click cursor over the image and select "View Image" will reduce to fit screen size although it loses some sharpness if there's a lot to be compressed. |

It looks like you could put you finger underneath the Low E string.
And it looks like someone glued the 'tongue' of the fretboard to the top.
This goes to show that you can Destroy an Adamas just like any other Ovation. :p |

Yeah, I figured that might have had something to do with it but I rather expect you knew what I meant notwithstanding your use of an Apple computer. |

Location: New Hampsha | Leaving those of us with no curiosity behind; I find this guitar interesting from a hisoty standpoint.
Yes it's been mistreated, and it's been hacked.
BUT:
1) I can't find any mention of a blue SMT top on any other model. None of us who had or have Mill-CBs have one that resembles it. Does anyone know about a blue/green SMT top?
2) The neck is "right."
3) the label is "right."
4) the writing on the label is "right."
Beat and mistreated, this could still be a very rare model. It's worth discussing and researching. (If you aren't interested, go eat your cookie.)
We've already uncovered an interesting tidbit about Mill-CB serial numbers - they span a couple of years. That deserves some study as well.
I hope I'm not the only one! |
