BrianT & I did an open mic a couple weeks ago. As we were finishing off our burgers a lady set up a video camera. We didn't know why. Turns out she was recording the performances then selling DVD's. We little open-mic, rock star wanna-be, ego-maniacs were able to purchase a permenant record making it possible to re-live the moment again and again and again!!!!
$$$ GREAT idea, eh? $$$

But, I digress.... I want to extract a clip from our set an post it here.
This is what is on the disc....

Download free program "Handbrake" through Apple Quick Time 3rd party resources. Use Handbrake to convert Video-TS files tp AVI files.

I searched the QuickTime site... no luck. I have come across "free" downloads only to find that the download is free but it costs $59.99 to register and activate the software.

Is TS-Video a MacIntosh thing?

John, Randy, Mike, Tim, Al( :D )... any sugestions?

brad,
do you have video editing software on your computer?

even windows movie maker?

is there a dvd player on your computer? if so, use the capture feature in the editing software and direct it to capture from the dvd drive. that's the first step, getting it on your computer. lemme know and i will follow up with you in a pm.

Hey there Randy...
Movie Maker does not seem to recognize the onboard DVD player as a source to capture video from.
I've copied the TS-Video clip onto my hard drive and the Movie Maker program still will not open it or import it.

And.. I hate to run out on an offer to help but in the last couple hours Pam & I decided to get outta Dodge an head up north to Pictured Rocks National Park up in the upper penninsula.
So... I'll have to put this project aside till I get back.

See??? See what having the kids all grown up allows you to do??

hey brad,
hope you had a great day at the park. now, back to business...if you have the desired clip on your hard drive then just open windows movie maker, click on file and then click "import into collections". direct your computer to where the clip is. once the clip is in collections you can open it in the timeline/storyboard and add titles, effects, whatever. it's been quite awhile since i used windows movie maker but i'm thinking the ofc.ning site will upload and convert the file from it. if not, you will still need to convert to whatever file type is necessary using a freeware application.

for a very decent nuts and bolts video editing software, i recommend roxio's easy media creator. they are now releasing version 10 and i saw that costco was selling the program for $54.00 last week.

it includes a very user friendly video editor, sound editor and file converters for every format. i have accomplished many professional looking and sounding projects with this software. there's a small learning curve compared to everything else out there that i know of.

No no... we're all packed and just out the door. 6-1/2 hour drive. Randy.. I think if you went on a 6.5 hour drive you'd just find yourself back home... twice.
Be back late on the 13th.
See ya!
