Location: los angeles | Hello,
I am new to this forum and to Ovation guitars. I recently bought a UK2 which is in pretty good shape, EXCEPT that the previous owner appears to have rewired part of the guitar. The 3-way switch only gives one pup or the other, but not both pups at once. In the center position, the switch only activates the bridge pup.
Anyone know which color wires go to what parts of the switch? Also, does anything connect to either of the two screws on the side of the switch?
Anxious to get this guitar into full swing. Any help greatly appreciated. |

Sometimes it is a wiring issue, but more often than not, it's a mechanical issue. |

Location: los angeles | Hell Mauvais. I agree. That's the problem. The wiring looks to be messed with, and I'm not sure how it should be. Currently, there are a green and yellow wire on one side of the switch leading to the jacks, and a red - black - blue configuration on the other (to the pups). There are also 2 screws on the side of the switch with nothing on them - don't know if they're supposed to remain that way. Any further help definitely appreciated. |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I opened the back cover on my UK II and here is the wiring: the switch has three top(from the back) wires and the bottom (underneath the top wires) has two wires:
Looking at the switch from the back with the wires towards the bottom of the switch cavity:
Top: (looking at the switch from left to right)
1st: Red
2nd: Black
3rd: Blue
Bottom (Left to Right)
1st: Yellow
2nd: Green
Hope that helps!
BTW: Welcome to the club! |

Location: los angeles | Thank you Music Mike. I truly appreciate your doing that. That's exactly the way it was wired on mine. Good to confirm. I finally gave up yesterday and brought it into a guitar tech who called me and told me it's now fixed. The good thing besides is that I'm now getting the guitar professionally set up. Can't wait. |

Location: los angeles | Yeah. I've had several in the past, and I kinda fell in love with this guitar at first play. |
