FOR SALE: OFC II GUITAR, No. 8/8 WIDENECK, with CARBON FIBER CASE
I have NO friggin idea why I am doing this. I bought a few guitars recently and have sold off some beauties. Once you do it a few times you find that it really doesn't hurt like you thought it would. So I am taking the next step and selling off another one that just gets no play at all. It needs a more appreciative home.
Do a SEARCH. You will find RAVES about this guitar. More than a few well respected members call it the best sounding Ovation/Adamas they have every played. It is everyting they say and MORE
You probably know all about the OFC II guitar, so I don't need to go into details. 8 of them were made, and a few were wide neck 1-3/4 versions. Mine in s/n 8 and it is indeed a wideneck. The guitar has about 2 hours of play time and is in 100% perfect brand new condition. Note, it is totally impossible to photograph this guitar. Pay NO attention to anything in the photos, there is NOT A MARK on the guitar.
I am throwing in the Carbon Fiber Case from the OFC I guitar. It's just MADE to go with this guitar (don't worry AJ, I've got 2 of them).
Here's the nitty gritty ...
- Adamas 2080 in gloss Blackburst finish
- Hand laid Fiberglass contour bowl
- Black binding and textured bowl
- Black gloss maple neck
- 1 3/4 inch nut width
- Set neck
- Ebony fingerboard
- OP PRO preamp w/ db boost button
- XLR and 1/4" outputs
- Open back Sperzel tuners brushed nickel
- Carbon Fiber Case
- Label signed by Alpep and CWKII
- Certificate of ownership
PRICE: $3750. Incl 2 day FedEx shipping in the CUSA
Email or PM me of you are interested. |

I bet if this doesn't sell within a few days, Dave reconsiders and decides to keep it. |

It has certainly affected me (without my knowledge of course!) |

I got mine from Moody when we came up with a swap that benefited both of us.
Nice when that happens! |

I had 3/8 (wideneck, too) out to an open mike last week. It was nothing short of awesome. Plugged it in, and it was just pure sound. The Martin player was all gaga and thought it was too cool for words, and the Taylor player went all snobby-nose on us and then kept fiddling with his expression system until it sounded like a runaway truck crashing through a kitchen. And then complained it was the Bose system that was ruining his sound.
The CF case is just perfect for this guitar. Almost too nice to take out, but I do anyway. Even if it means acquiring some bumps and bruises.
Alan ... as a 2080 fan, you ought to be all over this. I'll bet you can get more out of the boost button than most of us, given how you play. You'd probably really like the wide neck, too. |

The "I"s for me were nothing special IF (and I said IF) you owned a 47RI or an original slothead....otherwise they were an incredible guitar and the only way to get that special slothead vibe.
The "II"s were for me totally unique (even tho they strongly resemble the 2080) from the über cool finish to the Alpep button to the wide neck.
In retrospect I think the wideneck OFC II is the cooler and more rare guitar but there is no doubt in my mind that ultimately the OFC I will be more collectible and probably command a higher price. |

I'm a little suprised it didn't come as a slothead though. |

I still consider this to be the best modern made and sounding Adamas ever built! |

By the time we got organized, all eight had sold so we have to look at preowned. On the plus side (for the owners), it appears these models are retaining their value. |

I break my ass to get things built to have custom runs of guitars made, go through hell getting specs and details right and a used one comes up and everyone is ga ga over it yet I had a difficult time getting people to commit to them in the first place.
I had 8 guitars built had 7 people commit including myself. of course I took no deposits since I believe in "my word is my bond" when I took delivery 5 of those committed backed out.
oh yeah remember the guitar I sold Jerome that was on my site for 10 years and all of a sudden wow Jerome where did you ever find such a cool guitar.
I think I live in an alternative universe some days. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I was admittedly late to the OFC 1 party, almost too late in fact. The OFC IIs were just a little too modern for my tastes, although I recall quite a few others going gaga over them. The LAV Koas were also unique, almost too unique for my tastes, but the 12 fret wideneck seemed like something I "needed." If Ovation had come out with the 09 Collector by then, I probably would have gone for one of those instead, but Al may have prompted the introduction of the 09 by specing the LAV Koa.
Anyway, just because a bunch of us lust after a guitar doesn't mean we'd pony up the cash for it. It's much safer to want one that someone else already bought. I'm calling the list of people who asked for first dibs on my Boxster if I ever sold it, but no one is ponying up now that it's for sale. That's why there's the expression, "put your money where your mouth is." |

I never thought of parting with the OFC II but I've also been after a GP for a few years now. The opportunity presented itself just the same as the Hurricane and Fudd trade happened out of nowhere last year. Truthfully, I didn't think AJ would go for the trade since he had just picked up Dave's NAMM. Of course, I hadn't thought about him turning around and putting it back up for sale either.
As much as I dug the OFC II, the GP plain kicks A## :D |

I can't believe no one has bought this guitar yet. Maybe it's a bit too much rock star for most. I am convinced that down the road, these will have the same sort of mystique and allure about them that the original slotheads have. Just need to make them famous some how. |
