The title pretty much sez it all...

I finally decided to tune one of my electrics to Open G and play around with it.
[I have enough of them, I finally figured 'why not tune one of them to Open G']
Any suggestions?

Thank You Jeff... I meant to add, Besides 'Brown Sugar' :D

No, really I tuned it that way to just goof-around with Brown Sugar, then once I got it there I decided "Hey, this sounds cool!"
Even just doing the arpeggio thing, this is really nice.
Plus I can play almost any simple rock thing without a who lot of thought!

But I googled-up some chord shapes for G tuning, and found some site that recommended tuning G-G-D-G-B-D so if you don't correctly mute the sixth string it's okay. Plus you get a fuller sounding open strum, plus you double-up on the G for that thumpa-thumpa thing.

So I said to myself; "Self! This is fun, we need to explore this!"

Too hard! And good banjos (oxymoron) are down-right expensive...

BTW-- I left all six strings on the Pseudo-Strat.
So I ain't going for the five-string twangy-twangy.

Or Led Zep's 'That's the Way'. It's a good crowd pleaser. A good friend and I played this at our local pub buskers night a few weeks back - he sang and played 'mandolin' on his 84C with a capo at the 12th fret. I used my 1758 for the main guitar parts; it sounded wonderful! Both tuned to open G. We went down a storm.

Ditto!! on "That'sTheWay".
That's one of my favorites GigTunes!
(There's a few others on ZepIII that're OpenG)
I seem t'recall "ThRainSong" being in G as well . . .

Clapton's "Me&Mr.Johnson" has a lot in G, as well.
"If I Had Possesion Over Judgement Day" is a GoodOne.

Yep Cliff, the Rain Song is another great pick. Now I know, but not before I spent literally years trying to use the lamentable official tab for this song in standard tuning, and fill in the (considerable) missing parts. I came to the conclusion that Jimmy Page must have extra fingers/hands and a handspan approaching two feet! THEN I tried open G, and all is revealed...

;)

Frampton's "Penny For Your Thoughts" is a quick Open G instrumental if you're just looking for material...

Shoot - I've been playing that with normal tuning all this time. Never occurred to me that it was open G. I've never really messed with non-standard tunings much.

Wasn't too hard in normal tuning though - I used a lot of the same fingerings going up and down the fretboard that are used in McCartney's Blackbird.

I've just started with non-standard tunings, and, believe me SB, it's a WHOLE new world! Amazing...
