Location: Connecticut | I just recently (3 months) finally started learning to play the guitar. I am 25 and I waited way to long but at least I started. I have been playing a lousy hand-me down with star stickers on it for the time being with a name that many of my guitar playing friends never heard of. To make this story short I fell in love with Ovations and have been to many locals shops just to zone out and try as many as I can.I can;t even stomach any other brands. Being new to that scene I realized it was pretty cool. About a month ago I stumbled upon a 1778t. At first the looks alone were a bit strange but when I began to play it felt as if I had been playing for a much longer. The sound was unlike anything I heard. Well I didn't get it and i go back to many of these shops and none have it. Started looking online and they are being sold out everywhere. With many sites saying discontinued. I know this is the guitar for me and I can wait but does anybody know whether they will make it again (USA? Korea?) or how soon that will be. I missed out when they were selling for 599 and I am bumed. Thanks for the help and great website!!! |

Location: CA | This stuff ebbs and flows. It's slim pickins now but next week eBay might be flooded with them. (There's at least one for 599 right now.) They are well worth the wait. In fact, I'm waiting for another one, too. Best sounding and playing guitars for the money (at least my money) that are available. Be patient, and check craigslist. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | None of the O'cultists seem to have bought a Korean T (yet)... But who knows, they may be good guitars.
Some day someone will do a side-by-side, but it won't count unless they are about the same age.
I said all that to say, the Korean T's should be $599 new with a case and some kind of warranty.
But keep your eyes on eBarf, and always check the 'newly listed' area...
You might see the primo quick sale from someone who needs instant cash, for $333 or something.
Also your local Craigslist.
Beware of those eStores that sell 2nds as 'new'.
2nds usually come with a 5 year warranty, and have whatever issues repaired...
But they still say they are "New" until you read six miles of fine print!
And Welcome!
[I like T's too  ] |

And Welcome by the way. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | The only guitar that ever really surprised me acoustically was a 1778. It was Phil's fully bowl painted RF at the '07 tour in the hands of Bobbo. I made a decision right then that someday I would just have to have one of those. A little over a year later, I was finally introduced to mine at the PNW jam. I held out for a full bowl paint model, just like Phil's. SWMBO thinks it is one of the top three or four top sounding guitars in the bandroom. |

Location: Connecticut | Thanks for all the info guys. Being new to the guitar scene I guess buying used kind of scares me because I don't know all the specific things to look for. I will wait for one of these and hope to snag an American one, since I live like 15 minutes from New Hartford I think it would be cool to have one that was built close to here (if they are even built there?) Anyways thanks for the help!! |

Welcome!
I have one that I accidently left behind at Mt. Vernon (I only brought 12 or so there, sheesh!).
Several have played it and if you are interested I can sell/loan it over to you.
All I need is your SS#, Drivers License... not!
We can always work something out around here. The 1778T's are the best sound per pound units ever. |

Location: CA | Ha ha ha. DanUC6s ebay reference: seller says Spruce neck, farther down it says 2-piece mahogany. Actually, the necks on these are lovely maple and straight as a laser beam.
FWIW, I'd much rather find a nice used one with the wood 'opened up' a bit, than a tight paint-smelling newbie. That one looks like a real bargain if it doesn't go for too much more. |

Location: Bluffton, SC | Dan, you have no idea. If you have any questions about this group, get to a gathering or, given your location, the Factory Tour (assuming it'll happen this year). You will play guitars you won't believe and meet even better people. Then "this website" will be an every day stop. |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | I would be hesitant to buy anything on ebay, as I wouldn't want to buy a guitar I hadn't played first. That being said, the folks on THIS site know what they're talking about and are trustworthy. So I WOULD buy a guitar I hadn't played from any of THEM. |

First welcome! Where in Ct are you?
My first advice is listen to what you are being told here. Buying Used from a Member here is not only good advise but a VERY SAFE bet you will be very happy with what you get. IF, you decide to buy new/used at a local shop check out Daddy's.
They seem to have a good selection right now and will transfer in a Guitar from another Store so you can play it first b/4 buying it.
Good Luck!! |

I didn't know I could have them look at different stores, thanks for that info BT. As for the open mic....probably will happen....never!!!! haha...well maybe under the right circumstances. |

Go on line, look up Daddys and go to their "Used Guitars" Put Ovation in as the Keyword. There are 3 pages of "O" to choose from. If you see one that looks right to/for you, call Daddy's in "Hartford" and give them the infor off the website. It may take a week to get it down, but , you may find something special!!
Good Luck! |

Location: Utah | Can I interest you in a like-new 6778LX? 6778LX for sale
The 1778T is a great guitar and a great price. You wouldn't be disappointed with the sound or playability. The 2078T has the contour bowl and the same speckled black top, and if you don't buy my 6778LX I would suggest you look at the 2078T. My college age daughter has one and the sound is wonderful. It's the 1778T but even better with the contour bowl.
I'll echo that you can trust sellers here if they have some posting history. Although I had a perfect experience buying from someone with 1 post, generally I would say to look for a regular member to buy from. Or, check out Al at lostartvintage to see what he has available. I would trust him with my teenage daughters. Well, that's an overstatement! But I do trust him with my $. |

Location: Connecticut | Thanks for the info flysig!! I went to sam ash recently and tried one of the contour bowls and honestly didn't like the deep top part. I felt that i couldn't see myself picking because of the contour bowl. When I tried to turn it up it was difficult. But then again I a fairly new to the scene so I may have to try it out again. I just dont know if I am sold on the contour bowls. |
