Book Elite 1768-7 LTD that might go cheap in this economy

Don't know if this is a member, or if it has already been posted... I didn't see it.
The listing states that this guitar has been Played, so it hasn't been kept as a Closet Queen or a museum piece.

Somebody might grab it, restore it, or send it to the Spa... Or just Play it.

 And I have been struggling so hard not to use the term "evilBay"

....yes, I won the auction for this Elite "the Book".But the seller (I don't know if is a member of OFC), says he has discovered that it is forbidden to send musical instruments in Italy (But who do you think we are? troglodytes? is NOT TRUE. The import is opposed but not proibite.I want to have that guitar ..... what do you think? we Italians loved Ovation....

Have question to that guitars:
Anybody out there who knows how many of these were made??
I found on Jerome's site, that basses and long-necks were only ten made, but for this ones I found nothing.

Thanks

Oh, no!!

It's only my interest in a guitar, which don't show up very often on the market.

Thanks for the information, Bobbo!

But I have other news for Titti:
I was also bidding on this guitar and as the 2nd bidder it was offered to me last night.
I took her! I always want to be fair here, but let's see when it has arrived. It was a dream to own one of them, but when it not fits my "dream", it will be yours, Titti.
I'll let you know and you've to pay exactly the bill I've paid, okay?

Note to Arthur: Now two beers are waiting for you...

I think the seller is not a member here, never heard his name here. His head must be full of alerts.... I had some trouble with him, too.
But now I hope the guitar will show up quickly and in good condition, I'll keep you postet.

....and Athur, if you'll post a 3rd guitar, I'll buy, you have to show up before Chistmas. You can get beer here with up to 8% alcohol in this time. After drinking 3 of those we will be drunk..., but one point before: no paint here, not for my guitars.....

Bernie, a gesture from a true gentleman. We knew that this forum is the mothership for all fans of the Ovation guitars, and today we got confirmation. Congratulations to both. Very well done Bernie !

Final considerations: the seller, some Stephen, (of course, the paranoid type) has refused to send me the guitar that I had won on the Ebay auction claiming that it is forbidden (proibited) to send musical instruments in Italia.Hi sent me this link,http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/il_008.htm where they say it is forbidden to send "Bells and other musical instruments and parts thereof." But we're kidding? we are talking about bells and accessories that relate to the bells.Crazy..

The auction says, "Ships to: Worldwide See exclusions".
Under the Shipping and Payments tab, it says, "Excludes: Italy".
Italy is missing in the "Get Rates" country drop-down list.

It appears that the seller only revised the Item Description.

I don\'t see any Shipping Terms revisions.

Noah,I'm sorry that you have doubts. The second revision of the seller(is not for Italy)is after my best offer.
But this is not important.the seller wanted to send me the guitar, but not in Italy(I have the mails archivied on my Ebay _messages).I asked to wait to find a solution.I posted for help in the OFC and OFC Tribute.Result: none, all in vacation?( and rightly,it's summer). After, too late ,I only received a mail ( a good idea) of Tony Calman(Tony, the Force be with you,you need it).I do not know what happened after,I see in OFC the post of Bburg( I repeat with Marenostrum,Bburg is a very gentleman). The seller begged me of cancel the transaction. My thoughts:too much trouble, ....I don't a bad person:I accepted.I wrote him that I would not have written a bad feedback on him.But as punishment I asked to the seller to make a discount to the lucky buyer of "the Book"..I have not yet had no response from him P.S :Noah,your'87 collection "bearclaw",...only a dream....

Titti, I was late for the party and confused by the limited information that eBay displays. I am sorry that you won the auction and the seller would not work with you. What is the basis for this shipping restriction? I could not find a corresponding Italian Customs Restriction. I'm sure Tony's idea was good. Eventually, there will be another guitar. Put together a plan now.

,for me this restriction is only for bells and her accessoires....absurd, however,

Titti, I understand that the USPS states a restriction on mailing musical instruments. Considering the possible consequences (seizure at the receiving country), Mail appears to be a risk. But what is this Mail Restriction based on? I could not find any Import Restrictions published by Italian Customs. My experiences with USPS (EMS) for international shipping have been uneventful (good). Clearing customs is part of the service and the addressee settles-up import duties/taxes when they receive the shipment. I found that UPS and FedEx shipping quotes were always higher than EMS. I lost faith in UPS years ago when I was surprisingly back-billed an exorbitant amount for customs clearing services, duties, taxes, etc. As I said, there will be another guitar. Figure out now how you will be facilitating the shipping.

Well, here it is:

http://ovationfanclub.ning.com/photo/albums/book-elite

Sorry for the bad pics, my Olympus SLR is still unpacked.

As Arthur said: She wasn't stored in the case on a closet nor she is a museum piece.... she was played.
Still good playable but with some fret wear, also on the fingerboard. Some little dings on the soundboard, but there is another finish-crack, matched on the otherside of the repaired... maybe from the shipping to Germany.
The sound and playability are still very good but I'll change the heavy worn out D'addario's for some Elixir's, then I'll try it again and check the electronics....

Yes, she is a beauty, that's why I was bidding for her...
Strings are new now, the sound is much better with a wonderful projection, but the electronics have some trouble. The gain-poti has only two positions: all or nothing! Idea's??
