My son decided he wanted an older ovation and we discussed various models. He scored an Ovation Legend 1717 deep bowl non cutaway with OP-24 electronics. The legend has got to be one of my favorites. He got a great price and said it sounded like a million bucks. I'm going to get him to post pictures soon. We're going to sell the Guild D-15 to make room for the ovation. A new convert.

Your son bought a GREAT guitar. Legends from that time (mid 80's) are one of the great unappreciated guitars out there.

As a longtime Ovation owner (purchased the 10th anniversary in 1978) I scored a 1717 a few weeks back and couldn't be happier with it.

I REALLY wanted a 1651 and they were popping up crazy in December on Ebay! At one time, there was 3 listed for Sale. All different years and condition!

As Moody, p.i says above, they are terrific instruments from that time!!

Enjoy.
