I have been looking for lost, unlisted, or "you gotta be kidding me" Ovation lefties. The factory says that none of these were made, but I always wonder if there might not be one somewhere.

Ovation double neck in left handed
Ovation mandolin in left handed
Ovation solid bodies in left handed

If you know of any of these I would love to see/hear about them. Might even be able to purchase if they were for sale.

You can make any guitar into a lefty by replacing the nut, then routing the saddle slot to go the other way. I don't believe it will hurt the bridge, although it may look a little funny. You could actually fill in the old slot, then mix some of the sawdust with glue and fill in the top layer with that. I'd bet it would hardly show. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, take it to a good luthier/guitar tech. The average lefty costs about $100 more than the right-handed version. It probably wouldn't cost much more than that to have it done.

Thanks but I have enough "flipped over" guitars. I started buying guitars in the early 80's and real lefties were few and far between. I flipped over several guitars. Now I have plenty of lefties and I am looking for the unusual and different, though I have thought of flipping a double neck Ovation just for fun.

OOPS! I forgot, you mentioned solid-bodies and mandolins. Those would be even easier to change over. Mandolin bridges come in two pieces. Simply flip the top piece over, get the nut changed, and you're done. On solid-bodies, it depends on the type of bridge, but on most of them the saddles are individual, and can be switched around. Once again, all you need is a new nut.

Ovation bowls are pre-fab'ed and to my knowledge there is no mold for lefty cutaways like mando, doubleneck, LX and contours.

Yeah you could flip a righty over but 1) they sure look goofy with the cutaway on the top (bass) side, and 2) the preamp would be resting on your knee when playing seated or facing the ground when you play standing.

For lefty guitars and mandos you're better off with a wooden box style.

They've made lefty cutaways but no doubles, at least not as of 1998. The lefty cty is hand done.

I am actually playing a lefty CE778, which is a cut away, every day for my job and it is great. One of the best guitars I have ever owned.
