Location: Tidal Mudflats of Virginia | I have a 1688-7 (beige with blue burst). The label is signed by CW Kaman II. Stereo FET electronics and it is a 1987 with brown case and case cover the top frequency is 92.
Price is $2,200 OBO plus actual shipping & insurance. This is $300 less than what I paid for it 4 years ago.
More pictures here:
1688-7
It is in great shape for being almost 25 years old. Couple small dimples on back of the headstock and neck. There is a light scratch on the lower epi about a 1/2" long. Small dimple on the upper epi, light scratch on lower epi, little bit of nail wear on the 2-3 frets under the B and high E strings, small spot on back of headstock, light scratch on back of neck under the 12th fret area, white scuff on lower underside of bowl (not into bowl paint - I think it is off the arm of a lawn chair).
The leather case cover has a couple of small nicks in the outer layer. Tried to get them in the pictures. It appears that there was an addon piece put under the end of the neck between the bowl body and neck. I don't know if was added by the factory early on or by a luthier sometime later. It doesn't effect the playability but judging from the slight downward bend of the neck end, I would guess that it is attached to the bowl face. My '82 1188 had doublesided rubber tape under this area and had the same results. The '94 1688 I had did not but there was a 1/4" gap under the tip that I didn't much care for separating the end of the neck from the bowl face. My 1187 has a smaller piece of the doublesided tape hidden towards the middle and you have to look for it but the gap on that one is only about a 1/8".
The preamp works fine, I've only played out of the mono plugged in (I don't have a stereo cord). The pots have a little bit of static when it hasn't been played for a while and probably need just a shot of cleaner to knock the dust down. I think I've only played out plugged in once with this guitar, most of the time in groups I play acoustic and it more than holds its own unplugged.
Daughter recently got her license and I want to give her the proceeds to use as matching funds for a down payment on her own car. She's done great working hard all summer saving up almost as much, so I figure it will make a nice stocking stuffer.
Drop me an email or PM if interested...

If I did not already have multiple Adamas 12s this would be on it's way to Colorado........
As a matter of fact, I am still seriously playing with the idea of snagging it cause I could just slide it under my bed for about 2 years and made a cool $1000-1500 profit when it re-emerged. |

Didn't know you were still interested, hadn't heard anything from you since September. Not really interested in trades but would consider layaway payments.

Decided to hang on to this for a while longer... I'm even thinking I'll send her up to Kim and let mother take a look at that area under the neck and put it back to original. "If" she comes back out on the market, the price will start around $3.5K

Location: SoCal | Tim...good for you. I was scratching my head when I saw your price for sale. It is worth far more than you have been asking.
Back in 11/09 I posted my Custom 1688-8 (blue) delivered in 12/04; OP-50 w/XLR for $3,900 plus ship and insurance.
Didn't sell it but I wouldn't sell it for less.

The price is $2,650 shipped in the lower 48 states if you pay by paypal or $2,500 if you pay by cashiers check.
I will not ship overseas or Alaska/Hawaii...sorry, but I've lost hundreds on the last couple of those deals.

Location: Colorado | Making sure you still had her...Heck the case was like a safe...Florida event sounds great...but I am guessing the one who could put it all together...and the one we we could come to see is a little west of there now. |
