But I have a story for all of you about a little Taylor that could....and did.
I used to own a Taylor 714-ce. Beautiful guitar and I loved playing it. One evening at choir practice, another guitarist looks at me and says, with a perfectly straight face, "Is that a crack in your guitar?" It turns out he had a straight face because there was indeed a finish crack in my Taylor. I was a little less knowledgeable about guitars then, and this circumstance upset me so greatly that I decided to sell it.
To shorten the story a little bit, what has happened since that time is this: the money that I got from selling the Taylor turned out to be $100 less than I had paid for it five years before. It dawned on me that, if I was careful, I could buy a guitar, play it for a while, and possibly sell it for more than I had in it.
The game was on!
I quickly realized that, with a degree of prudence, I could buy and trade my way through guitars and manage to keep every fifth or sixth one. Other than an occasional shipping fee, I've never had to touch my checking account. I've come to call my hobby money the "Taylor Fund" as that is where the original seed money came from.
And this week, I hit a milestone. I picked up my tenth guitar keeper! (Though admittedly, one is a guitar that was converted to a mandocello...more fodder for another thread.) I am offically into double digits, and my wife's eyes can't roll any higher!
I went to the Ovation factory today to pick up my projects, and they kindly let me take some pictures there. So without further ado ("Ado?" What is that anyway?), I proudly present "My Taylor Collection".

| Very cool, I hope this helps Fender to see just how much people love these Ovations and when the tour takes place perhaps they will see how many hard core fans they have.
I would very much like to play that mandocello you've built, that looks interesting.
Those are the best Taylor's money can buy. |

I dropped of my Custom Legend 12'er, Patriot, and 87C for their 20-30 year checkups.
The rest were just a little homesick.
The wife and I have such complicated work schedules this coming semester, that I didn't know when I might get over there again, so I took full advantage of their hospitality.
In fact, Kim accidentally got some marker on my mandocello's neck, so he loaned me some safety glasses and we went to the factory floor to get it fixed. I love, I mean I LOVE, stuff like that! :D :cool: |
