Dave's (StandingO) response of using special plastic tubes was hilarious because it was done in a deadpan serious manner.
I guess that the Toneville a-holes, Hal and his buddy/alter ego '69D28, have found some other forum to infest. |

Truth is stranger than fiction. |

I have only had one in the 5 years but I do enjoy the whole ambiance' he sets up - unless he's scaring away the new guy's! ;) |

Location: south east Michigan | I got a kick when BrianT put in his 2 cents about monster cables. Which at times, hit a little to close to the truth.
*
It depends on the overtone you desire. For example, cables made with "Brazilian Copper" favor the darker bass side of the spectrum. Cables with Adirondack or Austrian plastic on the insulating sheaths enhance sustain. Some cables even contain fossilized mammoth dung as a dielectric spacer between the jack tip and shield, these are, of course, preferred by finger-style players
*
The very best tonally responsive copper is "free range copper". This type of copper is only harvested in it's natural state, when found laying on the ground. You see, mining copper with huge machinery drives out the free radical valiance electrons which give free range copper it's pure harmonic tap tone. You can actually pick up a piece of free range copper and tap it with a hammer and hear it's natural harmonics. Mined copper sounds weaker when tapped because the free electrons have been traumitized by the in-humane mining process. Some people claim that placing mined copper in front of speakers and playing Devo records repeatedly at max volume can restore some of the free valance electrons and result in a purer tap tone. But I think it's best to demand the real thing when buying a cable, pure book-matched free range copper. |

The Ovation bashing and eventual rehabilitation of GN-Nick.
Hal Jordan (the troll) stirring the pot was interesting.
But for me personally, it was definitely a thread I hijacked to talk about trying to find an Adamas W597, that lead me to buying Bongo Boy's 1537. A very big thanks to everyone here who talked me into it! |

You need to buy a FD 14 when one becomes available. It costs, but it'll knock your socks off.
Back to the thread topic --
I don't have any favorite threads. This is the one board that's almost universally interesting/funny every single day. In fact the very few days that it's not of interest to me are the rare exceptions.

I also would like to mention "OFC Kindness" from August. If you haven't read that one, read it now. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | I like them all, but I used to particularly like Paul T's rants on subjects that gave him the same super reflex as if he had been tasered.
BUT, he also contributed some of the best technical and relevant musical info that I have ever heard and that any young musician would be wise to study.
Of course the subculture of our resident godfather and Private Eye have been interesting but scary.
Then there is the golf playing, spoiled collecter of all we would love to own, who traveles the east coast in great cars and bitches about everything sxcept his little bitch that he loves like the rest of us.
Then there are MILES and MILES of technical minutia that none of us understand except we know the web site works great.
Then of course there is the rest of us idiots, who are trying to live a life and find a diversion from the reality that we are cursed with and all these heroes don't have to face, OR DO THEY!!!
