So....tell me guys. How do y'all go about something like this. I am a bit of a rookie....
1) Do you think we need to set a date then contact the Vista House and get their blessing?
2) I am not exactly good at memorizing a bunch of long forgotten songs, do you bring some cheat sheets and stands? (all I have done in the last 25 years is Christian music so not even sure how this all works).
3) On thing I might try is to bring my Tascam 2488 and a couple of condenser mic's and stands (of course this rules out the motorcycle ride) and record the session. Then I will be forced to figure out how to break them up which can be a pain, but it good for the learning curve.
When would be best, spring? Bring a sack lunch or potluck it?
Lots and lots of questions.... |

Of course Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington Qualify for the Old West title too (still think we should split with Seattle and Portland...know a good Lawyer that can make that happen?). |

There actually was a movement afoot back in the 80's to split off eastern Washinton, northern Idaho and western Montana and create a 51st state named "Columbia". |

Location: North Idaho | Idaho is the only state with three capitals:
1)Spokane: over 80% of north Idaho commerce is conduceted in Eastern Washington.
2)Boise: over 80% of population lives in Treasure Valley.
3)Salt Lake City: Over 80% of south east Idaho is Mormon. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Very true, Tim. When I go up to CDA or over to southeast Idaho, I'm considered an out of state lawyer. Lawyers from Spokane and Utah poach all the time. They like "reside" in Washington because of no income tax, but have a second home on "the lake" in Idaho.
Jeff, if you get this thing organized, I'll have to learn to read music. I play most everything by ear, although I am starting to learn to read tab. The only guitar lesson I ever got, I ended up trying to show the teacher how to play Time In a Bottle and gave up on lessons. So I'm not very good at playing with others. |

Location: closely held secret | Well, I think the first step would be to contact whatever bloated state agency is responsible for the Vista House and see if it would even be allowed. Then talk about dates. |

Edit: I getting some real lag time in posts. |

Don't worry about reading music. I don't even read tab. (Well I used to play first chair on 8 or 9 instruments in high school but then I picked up playing by chords and forgot them all).
So essentially, I just use chord sheets (ie words and chords...the less complex the better) which 95% of players I have dealt with are comforable with.
I will fire an email to the contact on their web-site and see what perculates to the top. I am thinking a Saturday since I have to do worship on Sundays, so maybe a Saturday afternoon to allow travel time. I could probably even put up a few folks from Idaho at my house if you wanted to come up Friday night then drive down together on Saturday morning the last couple hours. |

The Vista House is closed for the season and won't be open until April, so that leaves lots of lead time for planning. |

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | Hi guys (and gals) I'm back. Been somewhat pre-occupied trying to get a deal closed on my other wordly obsession. Flying....hope to have a replacement airplane in the next couple of weeks, but alas, that will be the end of my guitar buying for a while.
Anyway...back on topic. I have tried several times to contact the folks at the Vista House about arrangements to have a Jam there. So far, they don't reply, and I have not had any phone luck either. Does anyone else have any way to get ahold of these people or should we just pick a date after they open and "show up"?
Thoughts appreciated. |

I'm done with taxes and feel the need to travel. Have you got any news on a meeting place?
I'll bump up the 'northwest' thread. |
