I was in Nashville this week and saw that Cotten Music has two Collector Editions--1985 and 1987--both look to be in excellent condition--if anybody is interested--They have a web page--Cool shop with lots of nice guitars

The '87 looks like it's in very nice condition. $995.

http://www.cottenmusic.com/inventory.html

It's interesting that Cotten's website has separate inventory sections for Martin, Collings, Breedlove, Santa Cruz, etc., but lumps the Ovations under "Used Guitars & Such" with other mundane guitars like Taylors. ;) :D

They also have Gibsons, Taylors, and others in the same section....so the company is not too bad.

Cotten Music is a "great little shop."

When I was in Nashville a couple years ago, I spent several hours there playing some very nice lefty acoustics; they let me take them back in a practice room and pick away! Very nice folks.

Wish I could've taken one home with me--one of the few Martins that made me weak in the knees; a very nice, $3K rosewood jumbo...what a cannon!

That is a great deal on the Heritage Sweet 16 archtop. I played one at a guitar show about 4 years ago and thought it was the nicest guitar I'd ever played. Now I just think it's the nicest archtop I ever played - I've met a U681 since then.

They've gotten pictures up on the 85 now too but the above link misses them--they're in the current New Arrivals section--while I was there this week one of the owners told me her 1st guitar was an Ovation.

Not surprising the '87 was put on hold (come on...which OFC member is going to fess up!) at the price they were asking (with a description of excellent condition)!

Any of you guys find it odd that I talked to Kim at cotten about the 87, that was on consignment, and within a few days after I told her about this website, we have a new member talking up cotten music. Don't get me wrong, I'm always glad to welcome a new member, but come on waskel,moody,p.i., I got tons of grief from my beloved members, i.e. waskel, when I joined just because I had a 1868 for sale. I think the response was, "here is another hit and run". What has happened to the skeptics, this place used to be like the old David Letterman, now it seems more like Jay!

I think I do. For awhile when someone signed up just to sell an Ovation, or worse, try to find out how much it was worth, some of the old timers seemed to rip into him/her pretty good. Gulfcoast is an old timer now, but seems to remember.

Hmmmm gulfcoast. I think we missed on it because it wasn't really posted in the "for sale" section. We are much more brutal over there.

Mark, don't be too hard on yourself. A lawyer is still one step up from being a drummer :)

Last I heard it was just barely above used car salesman. Drummers were always on the bottom of my list of musicians. Didn't help that a couple of guys my daughter dated thought they were drummers. If you can sing, though, you are redeemed.

Well, I'm not a lawyer, my father was, but drums are my main instrument :( and wouldn't you know it, my oldest daughters first serious boyfriend was also a drummer but he was really good. By the way, I can't sing either :) but I am looking for a good lawyer!

Gulfcoast, I'm sorry if I haven't been as ascerbic and cynical lately. I guess I've been to busy to come out swinging. I'll try to do better after I get back. Hopefully I will be able to keep up occasionally while I'm gone. I'd hate to lose my touch...

"Rendition" is what the CIA/Military Intelligence call the special flights they use to ship suspect terrorists from somewhere that has signed the Geneva Convention, America say, to somewhere that hasn't, Afghanistan say, so that they can have their genitals plugged into the mains whilst listening to non-stop Barry Manilow. The British and German governments are both currently holding enquiries into the use of airfields in their countries to refuel these flights. Technically it makes them accomplices under International Law. That's why they are holding enquiries - to officially decide that they are not.

This just shows how unimportant that type of news is here in the States. It can't compete with the really IMPORTANT stuff like Britney Spears' divorce and Angelina Jolie's pregnancy.... ;)

No, Roger. It never becomes news here, because nobody reports it as news. It wouldn't get the ratings.

Oh, I will. I'll probably holler at you from Africa, just to keep in practice. There are 3 or 4 internet cafes in the town (Jinja) we're staying. Brad wants a picture of me fending off a charging rhino with my Balladeer. Probably be more like me fending off a charging market vendor trying to sell me toasted grasshoppers.

Hey gulfcoast--I'm in Brandon--wasn't online yesterday so I missed all that--was at Cottens last Wednesday and Kim didn't mention any other MS visitors--I was looking at OMs and saw the Ovations--thought I'd mention them where the most interest would be(unknown to Kim by the way)--Actually I'm more lurker than poster usually
