Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | I’m using D’Addario Phosphor bronze lights on my Balladeer. The guitar is pretty new, maybe 6 mo or so old. The last set I put on lasted maybe a week before the G string wore right through the windings at the frets. I put another set on three days ago, and again I feel the wear at the frets on the G string. I don’t remember this problem with the guitar’s original set of strings, which I believe were the same strings. This problem didn’t occur with the Martin Phosphor Bronze lights that were on for a while before I went with the D’Addarios.
Any thoughts? Thanks. |

Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | right now, around 6'th ,7'th and 8'th frets. I had been playing a tune over and over that had a lot of play in this area, so... But with this last string change, I still play it, but not over and over like before. |

I would expect the strings to go dead, playing the same song over over and over, but to actually wear thru is kinda strange. Frets may need some attention if you play there really frequently.

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Might be a small burr or something in that are on the frets like Jeff said. Take a little 000 steel wool to the frets in the area and smooth it out.
Make sure you tape off the fretboard before you start. |

Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | The damned thing is wearing again, and the string is kind of dead with a mild buzz. I'll try the ooo steel wool--and I definetly tape off the fret board 1'st.

Location: Mt Clemens, MI USA | If I do this, What about taking all the strings off at once? I'll also check to see if it's a waranty issue; what do you think? This sucks, I have to have a guitar. May go out and by a MIM strat, or tele for 350 for a second axe, though I prefer acoustic. |
