In the "Guitar trashing" thread I had cause to type-out what I thought a guitar, falling to a hard floor, would sound like...I went with....

<<<<>>>>

Don't know if that works for others or not...

Got me to thinking about how YOU might do this sound effect?

Then, I got to thinking about other relateted sound effects, like breaking a string?

Thought seeing a list would be kind of entertaining as well as expanding our literary talents....

For an unwound string, it has to be "Binkkk", but a wound string usually makes a noise more like "doinchhchchchch".

Not really a fan of thinking about guitars falling onto hard floors, as it brings me out in a cold sweat. A plugged in strat definitely makes a "Kerrannggggg" noise, and that's why I have straploks on everything now....

Sound of an Ovation falling and hitting the floor: "tap, tap, tap". bad example, but that's me tapping a plastic spoon on my table.

Sound of me watching an Ovation falling and hitting the floor: "Damn glad that wasn't mine".

Interesting thread however, because it made me think of the recent jam at Moody's house. he's got a really nice place and we filled it with plenty of people, plenty of food and booze (nice job Jerrie) and a very, very impressive selection of guitars. Probably 20+ guitars. FD14's, U681's, Slothead, shiny bowls, Adamas's, 1537's, 87's, Book mando, mandocello, etc. etc. You name it. It was a mightly impressive scene. As you can imagine, these instruments were scattered everywhere and often in some very precarious positions. I am amazed that nothing bad happended to any of them. Other than Cliff setting his hair on fire, everything came through undamaged.

I'll go with Mark's description.

Meanwhile, what about the noise made when someone walks into an old Fender Super Twin amp with the reverb cranked up?
