no we are not chopped liver. If a dealer wanted to order special guitars like the ofc guitar for example, it can happen. There is a minimum order and you just have to commit to those guitars. Please keep in mind that the Asian and european markets are very different than the US market. For reasons that I don't understand, Ovation is not the red headed step child in those markets. |

Location: south east Michigan | Maybe the "chopped liver" comment was a little to strong. I know for a fact that Ovation does not concider the collective "we" in a bad way.
However...I got my answer. The market drives the product. The Japanese market supports Ovation in such a way that allows different things to happen.
Seeing pictures of all those different color ukes brought the question to mind.
Thanks Al. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Not chopped liver, it's more like put your money where your mouth is. The Japaneese distributor will give a special order and make it for 25+(or whatever the number is to make the model work) pieces. They also want something that can't be bought very cheap in the states and brought into Japan and resold, avoiding the duty etc which is considerable over there. It's been done for Germany too and Sam Ash as well. There have probably been some for Guitarget as well but I'm not sure of that. |

It's an American slang term meaning "lack of respect" or "not deserving attention". |

Perhaps we should switch over to Haiku?

I just wanna to know what's "chop liver" meaning? Chopped liver is a meat product purchased at the grocery store. It is quite simply ground up liver of a cow or pig. It is then injected into paper or plastic tubes or casings about 2 inches in diameter. You then slice it off to put on bread. Some people like it, others can't stand to eat it. I like mine with mayonnaise. Other names for it are Liver Sausage, Liverwurst and Braunschweiger. It is one of the cheapest things in the meat case.
By saying, "What am I? chopped liver?" An American is asking if the other person feels they are of little value, like chopped liver. Most times it is said in jest. Other times the person asking the question is somewhat offended, but not very often. I think the original poster was saying so in jest. |
