Talk about your bad mojo...I post my first question in over a year (yes I lurke alot) and the whole system shuts down and my post is "LOST IN CYBER-SPACE" DANGER DANGER!
So here we go again... I'm looking for reviews/comments on the C2079LX. Standing O Dave responded to the original post with very positive remarks. I live in central Pennsylvania and would be lucky if any of these exist within 150 miles of me (anybody know of any in Harrisburg,Altoona State College ect.?)
Also does this model have a XLR jack? I think I read somewhere that the 1/4 " jack is an end pin type?
Side note to AL..I got your price quote and if I decide to pull the trigger I'll be in touch.

In my opinion, that is the guitar to have from the current Ovation offerings. Very, very nice.

Yes, it has XLR output. The 1/4" is the "two connector" type (the proper term escapes me at the moment), not the TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) three connector type.

Also, I just noticed that brotherbob has one on eBay. Take a look at auction # 7390039736.

This is one in my wish list....but it's just missing "natural" top offer. Black is cool but i just like natural.

I will wait and see if C2079LX will offer natural or ADII natural will go ContourBowl in the future.

Will buy either one in the near future...

It's 'TS'. Or for the more common term, just think of Bongo Boy... unbalanced.

I made a low offer on that one to feel them out. They counter-offered but Al's price is better.

You can special order the natural top if you don't mind the wait...3 months or more.

Not that it's a big deal but does the 1/4 inch jack double as the strap button or is it off set like most O's? I think I read somewhere that it's the strap button type.

Tomorrow I should have and extreme case of hearing the phantom UPS Truck as my custom-custom-contour-Elite LX 12 string with the custom natural top will be delivered!

Had to sell three nice guitars and actually make some decisions almost 3 months ago. Now it should soon come to ripeness!

I hope the photo utility is up! I should be!!!

Some Bear had it's way with a Spruce tree!

It would qualify as either a AAA Bearclaw or XXX guitar porn (plagarised from the UMGF string)!

The beauty of it all is that tomorrow IS a Federal Holiday but ISN'T a UPS day off! Saves me from calling in sick.

My guitar box has been sitting in Seattle since 0730 on Friday though.

I honestly don't know how Al makes a living. He is the worst Salesman I have ever met. The guy's at Ovation must feel sorry for him too. They jumped all over this one for poor Al.

If I had ordered through a real Salesman locally I would have had to pay a lot more for mediocre service.

Actually, just the part about Standing Dave thinking his guitar was in made the whole thing worth while.

Out of pity, I reccomend Al for your custom orders. Total charity mind you. It should almost be tax deductable.

"..should be almost tax deductable?" Hell, I'm writing my 1773LX off as part of a disguise for a case I'm working on...

Nobody would ever believe that I could write it off as a business expense claiming that I could actually make money on my music...

I still don't understand the reason Al refused to quote on my special order C2079LX-4 (natural finish) with carved bridge and truss rod cover plate. I would have given it to him over any other offer. After several attempts to change his mind, I gave up and gave it to another dealer. This guitar has been in the planning for several years, but the LX and contour bowl forced the order.

Hopefully I will receive it soon as I understand that this 1st qtr. is when the european C2079LX stock is being produced, and I really expect mine to come out of this production run.

You wanted me to post a price on this internet forum. By nature of my dealer agreement I cannot do that and I explained that to you. Your post also invited some sort of dealer price bidding war in which I refused to participate.
I hope you are happy with your order and price.

See, here's an obvious difference between Al and the dealer you ordered from. If you had ordered from Al, you would definitely know when your guitar was about to go into production, when it was finished, and when it was shipped. Apparently, the dealer you ordered from can only tell you to "expect" yours to be part of a production run, and to hope for it to be shipped soon.

For my money, and I know we're talking about your money here, I'll be happy knowing what's going on and having faith that I'm receiving the best available combination of price (apparently the absolute most important to you) and service when I order from Al.

dmkozak,

Before we lost a weeks worth of threads, weren't you looking for a shallow bowl in the $1000 range?

I posted up a pic of my Adamas 1881 that would be a terrific guitar for you although I am asking a bit more than $1000. If interested check out all the details in my OFC gallery under the "for sale" section. Several members chimed in and said it would be a great buy for you.

I can give you an idea but Uncle Al - the lousy Salesman - can give you a specific!

I think he's panhandling on 3rd and Main today. Talk to Moody about tax deductible upgrades.

BTW - Left Seattle at 0453 a.m.!!!!! Out for Delivery???

I hope you are happy with your order and price.
1. At the time of my enquiry I did not know about the MAP (minimum advertised price), nor did I know how many 'dealers' there were on this forum. I did NOT ask for a price to be posted on the forum, and included my e-mail address, which I NEVER do on other forums. You could still have given your price anytime during our several e-mails when I was trying to clarify my position.

2. You say that I"...invited some kind of dealer price bidding war...". I simply invited all dealers on the forum to send me their best price for this guitar. Again, I didn't know how many or who the dealers were. Later, when I received no e-mail quotes and found out that you were a dealer (and probably the only dealer), I sent you an e-mail asking why no quote. I disagreed with your reasoning for no quote and tried to correct your misunderstanding of my intent, to no avail.

Even re-reading your post above, I STILL do not understand why your attitude remains the same! What could I have done differently under the circumstances that would have prevented this fiasco?

I just wanted to order from someone on this forum and get a good price. There wasn't going to be a price bidding war! I'm just a 67 yr. old fart that is finally getting my first guitar after decades of yearning, and it is an Ovation with everything I wanted - and for some stupid reason I wanted this forum to be a part of this wonderious event. I am so sorry that this part of it has resulted in this negative feeling on both sides. Believe me, it was the furthest thing from my mind when I started this exciting adventure.

Sorry. Not me. While I am a sucker for red guitars, I think my next one will be a red Custom Legend contourback (yes, ordered from Al), and I'll be waiting for the Factory to have Reeves Callaway teach them how to color impregnate the Adamas carbon fiber tops.

1 you invited people to post prices. That is something that no one can do.

2. I started the OFC before I became an Ovation dealer, and I KNOW there are other dealers out there and that people buy guitars from whomever they want and also realize I cannot provide the world with their guitars. (although it is a nice thought)

3. what you could have done differently is what so many people do on a daily basis which was e mail me directly for a price. I am sorry if it rubbed you the wrong way that no one responded but your invitation for post prices is just an impossibility.

I will not go into this private matter any further on this public board. I have your emails that I can post but I will not.

Again, I hope you enjoy your guitar ultimately that is what is it all about here

"I've waited many months for Ovation to release my ideal guitar. However, it is not offered in the 'Natural' finish as standard.

I would like ALL authorized Ovation dealers on this forum to reply to donald18@sonic.net with your best offer to 'Special Order' the C2079LX Deep Contour Custom Legend LX in 'Natural' finish AND #9158-0 Hard Shell Case, and drop shipped factory direct to me. Payment by PayPal is preferred for card security.

Thank you in advance for all help offered. Donald"

This is the 'offending post' which STILL garners so much negative feelings from you. And, I STILL don't understand why you reacted the way you did, nor why I could not clarify my position sufficient to allow not only mutual respect, but also allow the order I wanted.

In view of the continuing feelings, I would not be suprised to see this post purged.

If this perspective is fairly universal, then I stand corrected. I apologize for fostering the bad feelings resulting. It trully was not my intention to either create the impression of "price bidding war" or bad feelings, just trying to advertise to the unknown people selling Ovations that I wanted to place a special order.

This happened a long time ago and this post subject and replies stirred up my frustration and hurt caused by this incident, and I wanted to clear the air. The result is different than I expected.

I really do love this forum, visiting several times a week. I do hope that my participation has not been hampered by this. If so, e-mail or PM me.

After rereading the original post and assuming it is original and not edited, I withdraw my accusation of Donald wanting prices to be posted on the forum but I still maintain, that I did not want to get involved in a "bidding war".
