Location: Burbank | Yesterday I had the chance to visit the new Guitar center in Northridge CA and I was surprised to see a couple of things. The Ovations, were all within reach, the LX's (all flavors) out-numbered the celebrities!!!!!! I will say it again the american models out-numbered the celebities! They also had picures of the mother ship factory process on the wall too! I got to play my first elite LX and it sounded very nice. My question is what is the difference between an "Elite" and a "Standard Elite" They were about a $100 different in price and were both New England Burst in color so they looked identical. I also saw for the first time a 6751 LX Balladeer 12 string. I have a non LX one and the LX sounds better in my opinion. My only disappointment is no Adamas'. Oh well, can't win them all! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Were any of them in tune? Ours has a decent supply on occasion, but the kids that work there don't like Ovations, so they are never tuned. I keep telling them I am going to charge them for all the time I spend tuning their guitars. Their other brands all seem to be tuned.
I know with the new tuners it is easy, but over half the time the battteries are dead or missing in the Ovations. |

Location: Carle Place, NY | The standard Elite LX has A grade spruce in the top, chrome tuners, a satin finished neck and a rosewood fingerboard. The Elite LX has AA spruce, gold tuners, a gloss neck and an ebony fingerboard. Otherwise the guitars are the same. |

Location: Burbank | That is funny you ask about tuning. The 6 strings were fairly close and had.....are you ready......new strings! The store has been open for about 3 so I guess that may change. The 12 string was SO far out of tune it was obviously never tuned. It was somewhere in the c# area! After I tuned it, all the strings stretched out and had to do it all over. I guess if the Elite has the AA top gloss neck and gold tuners, then then you add another A to the top and some fancy abolone and you have a custom right? |
