Hi all,
I just won this guitsr on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7393043701&rd=1&...

I was going to pull my bid because I figured I would get outbid but if I won great. But then my brain started to work and figured I better pull my bid. Well I didn't get to it in time and I won. I have wanted to try an Elite, so I guess I will. But my question is this a good price? If it is I wonder why I wasn't out bid. Anything to make me feel better about this?

Bill

That's a nice guitar. Forget about what you paid for it. Just enjoy it. BTW ... to get a new equivalent today, you'd spend close to twice what you paid.

I think you did well. That's a nice guitar with one of the preferred Preamps and a case for under $500.

Very decent!

good catch. If you don't want it, you can always sell it for a profit. I wonder why you didn't get outbid.

Bill, that's a nice guitar. I'm betting once you play it, you'll feel better about the price, which is a good one for a nice deep Elite.

Sometimes guitars just slip through the cracks on Ebay - or maybe it was just meant for you!

Could someone tell me if this is a mid depth bowl? I can't tell but it looks like it to me.

It's a mid-depth. And an Engleman Spruce top.

And if you think you paid too much, think again...

edit: Ok, Mitch, maybe a deep. Even better. So stinkin hard to tell in pictures sometimes...

I checked the O website. The X768 models are deep bowls, the X778 models are mid depth.

I thought it was a good deal, but when I added in the cost of a divorce and IRS levy, I decided not to bid.

Good buy! In the unlikely event that you don't like it, you should be able to get your money out of it. The ES tops are relatively rare.

Thanks all for the info. I feel a lot better about this. Just have to explain it to the wife. But it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. I can't wait now for it to make its trip accross the country.

If I could help you explain your buy to your wife, I'd have bought it instead of you and then explained it to my wife. You're on your own there buddy.

OK, the only secret I've got is learning I'll Have to Say I Love You In a Song. Got me through a 2 guitar Valentine's day. She's on to me now, though, so I may as well let you use it.
If you've got any new ideas, we could start another thread on this topic.

Have it shipped to a friends house, then bring it home, and when she sees it say, "What this? I've had this forever." Of course, I've never actually heard of that working, but who knows, maybe you'll be the first!

Looks good to me. Sometimes nobody bids. I've bought two Ovations where mine was the only bid. That is a deep bowl, I think, and you probably won't find a better price on a guitar of that caliber. I have a feeling it's gonna sound good. The string action looks right. The verdict is in: Good Deal. Enjoy it. Buck

Okay, but how do you get Pokeypup to marry everyone here?

I think it's legal in Oregon and Canada though!

The key to success with the wife "problem" is to find out what her threshold is. For my wife, it's about $200. So, as long as any guitar or gun costs less than about $200, she's ok with it.

Unfortunately, she saw the cost of the electric guitar I just won on Ebay. It was a tad over $300, and she doesn't care that it is really a $500 guitar that went cheap.

So, she just retaliated by buying herself that MP3 player she's wanted for a year. Seems like a good solution to me!

Are you talking about collectable stuff, or real guns for shootin' people ??? I suggest the next OFC jam session is NOT at your house. ;)

Flysig, being from Utah, I expected you to respond to the question about how everyone on the board could marry Pokepup, but I guess it never worked that way. Has a woman ever been charged with bigamy? I'll have to research that.

Well I got a break. My wife is able to go on a mission trip with ur church to New Orleans next week. So she won't be here when she comes. She handles things better when she doesn't see the package come. I don't know why but she does. So I should be safe. I will tell her I will sell another guitar. Just might take a while to post it anywhere. :D

The wai-yay-ting is the hardest part. I have a G&L Comanche that was supposed to get flipped last Saturday. Except I was in Clebeland. So, it was supposed to get flipped today. Except I've been busy playing manservant to SWMBOEWSOBR[1]. Maybe next weekend. Maybe not. ;)
